while i hope that your intuition is correct, i think that we are to late to the party for malik. Just way to much ground to make up on others that have been recruiting him all year (sparty/buckeyes)

Normally, I'd agree. But Malik has strangely been flying under the radar for a borderline 5-star. ND has more to offer him than Michigan or Michigan State. OSU is not even in contention for him. This is pretty much a ND/MSU race now.

i think in terms of having more to offer the poster meant something along these lines. If he is looking for a school that has high academics and a winning football team than ND has the advantage over MSU and UofM when you combine all of the elements. We have a superior academic reputation to that of MSU, not saying that MSU is a bad school, and it really helps that U of M had a very subpar year on the football side of things.

With the assortment of athletes being "suspended" due to academics, it would be hard not to go to another school. ND is so hard academically, it is not for everyone. Not saying Malik isn't capable, but I am sure other coaching staffs are putting that in many recruits ears. I know I will get blasted for this comment, but I just had to put it down.

2 kids in 2 seasons. High profile? Sure. But it's actually far less than the # of kids who fail out at most schools yearly. All our coaches have to do is point at graduation rates and that negative recruiting falls apart. Really not an issue at all.

247 lists him with a Jan. 31 OV to OSU.

Malik was listed at 260 earlier in the cycle as well, but he has apparently jumped 30 pounds since then. I don't believe by the end of the cycle that Tuitt was only 260 either though.

Tuitt showed up on campus 6'6 300 lbs. his offseason work before arriving was sick!

Also tuitt s sr yr tape is 1000 times better than malik. But hey not everyone is a nfl pro bowl caliber player. I would love to add malik and see him more in the Jarron jones type.

You might say we're behind in his recruitment, but honestly, Michigan and MSU haven't taken advantage of it at all. IMO, McDowell's dad being in ND's corner is the biggest thing to happen in his recruitment since ND backed off a while ago.
