Sounds like the Cards just traded for Marcell Ozuna. I'm curious to see what they gave up in prospects for 2 years of Ozuna at arbitration-level salary.

How this thread has never been started, we will never know. But thanks for doing so.

To the prospects - a little worried myself. rumor has alcantra, hudson, flaherty, and one of our outfielders. If so, that's too much.

That's a lot unless Ozuna plays well and re-signs with the Cards in 2020. The flip side is that we still have Reyes, Weaver, Carson Kelly, Tyler O'Neill, Harrison Bader, and Magneuris Sierra.

I'd rather flip one of Alcantara or Flaherty, one of O'Neill, Bader, and Sierra, and another fringe prospect. Then ship one or both of Grichuk or Piscotty for the best prospect haul you can get to replace the lost prospect depth and pull a trade for Chris Archer.

I wish there was a way to just deal one of those three. I'm fine with Grichuk leaving. His floor is lower than Piscotty as a 4th OF.

This can't be consolidated with the boys of summer thread? I would think that if more than one baseball thread were needed, it would be one for the Irish baseball team or college baseball in general.

Given my universal antipathy for professional sports, especially the NFL and baseball, I feel I can reasonably state that I would love to have them all consolidated. I soften a bit on Green Bay because I don't think they could ever leave their city, but I was in MN for the Vikings stadium fiasco and that burned me on the idea of professional sports forever. The treatment of the city for the Super Bowl is even worse. I don't understand how donating to exploitive sports organizations fosters city pride when they can and do threaten to leave if you don't give them enough. I don't think I ever will, so I'd support putting all of them in a little easily avoidable thread bucket. Probably outvoted though.

Stephen Piscotty traded to Oakland Athletics, closer to mom with ALS

Piscotty dealt for infielders Yairo Munoz and Max Schrock. Not at all a bad return for a guy they wanted to get closer to home. Seems like a win win win
