Don't forget, Junior Jabbie, spring game phenom and MVP. 13 carries for 87 yards.

How about this for additional perspective. Regardless of whether we pull EV, this class is going to have a huge impact on our overall talent level going forward. Looking at the final Rivals rankings of the players with eligibility remaining, our prospective class dominates the list of our highest ranked recruits on the roster (yes, I threw EV in there for karma). Potentially 6 out of our 10 highest-rated players would be freshman next year.

1 J. Smith LB 3
2 Williams LB 16
3 Bryant RB 19
4 Kiel QB 20
5 Vanderdoes DL 21
6 Tuitt DL 22
7 Redfield S 30
8 Elmer OT 60

9 Hegarty OG 70
10 Montelus OG 74
11 Watt OG 77
12 Koyack TE 82
13 Nix DL 85
14 Councell LB 91
15 Carlisle RB 93
16 Neal WR 107
17 Shumate S 113
18 Folston RB 119
19 Zaire QB 122
20 Rochelle DL 124

21 Russell CB 124
22 Atkinson RB 126
23 Luke CB 133
24 Randolph LB 134

25 TJ Jones WR 141

No idea who you are, but I love you. If we had a "First Post of the Year," this would be it.

Rankings are simply a comparison of how these players stack up against their peers in the same class. Comparing rankings from year to year is kind of pointless, since the variables (read: how good the rest of the field is) can vary greatly. But we have good guys coming in who should add great value to the product on the field, in the coming 4 or 5 years.

True enough, but championships are simply a comparison of how teams stack up against their peers in the same season...and I am not going to turn any down just because the competition may have appeared tougher in a different year. I completely concede that there is some variation year to year in these rankings and that they do not guarantee a thing, but I do think they are still a safe indicator that our talent level is on the rise.

Look at previous years on scout and rival sites, but look back 6,7,8 years. Look at the top 100 recruits and see how many you recognize still today and how many aren't in the NFL or have never been heard from. It will shock you.

Recruiting coverage is much better than it used to be. With the increased used of technology and social media, more kids are getting exposure and are discovered earlier than they would have been. There are also many more evaluators.

I guess you are saying that High School ranking isn't a perfect indicator of future greatness. That;s why I like a coaching staff that has demonstrated that they can coach up. I also think that a team chemistry needs to be recreated every year. Last years team had great chemistry. Let's see if it evolves again in 2013,
