Quick question to the lvl 100 smithers...

Do you have to use Dragon Bones/Scales to make Dragon Armor?

Yes, you use both. This makes Dragon Armor cheaper to make than Daedric Armor, but Daedric armor is just slightly better (It's very marginal). You also use Bones I think to improve the Dragon Armor, but I haven't crafted anymore of it in a few days (I made a few suits for my housecarls). The other nice thing that Dragon Armor does have over Daedric is it has a Light Armor variation that Daedric Armor does not have. Dragon Armor is also slightly lighter to carry.

ok, wasn't sure...

I'm a heavy armor character anyway.

I've been selling most of my Dragon Bones/Scales up to this point, but I won't anymore

thanks!

Dragon Armour uses either Dragon Scale/Bone (different pieces use either or IIRC, and improving uses the same that it takes to craft in the first place), with Iron Ingots and Leather Strips.

Daedric uses Daedra Hearts, Ebony Ingots, and I think more Leather Strips.

My heavy armour skill is up to 70ish...at 70 I unlocked the perk that makes heavy armour weigh NOTHING and not slow you down. This game is fannnntastic.
I am 60 hours in. I'm taking tomorrow off...I may get BF3 on big sale tomorrow if anyone here plays it on PS3...I may be up for teaming up sometime.

To the sword users...I recommend an Ebony Sword...improved to LEGENDARY condition...But I have a line on some fresh Daedra hearts (Check your alchemy vendors people...and I am feeling like going all Daedric...I have a full armour set that just needs improved...and weapons and shield on the way! ALDUIN SHALL TREMBLE!

Daedric armour and weapons require 1 heart to make...Ebony ingots are the only material needed to improve them.

Yeah, I didn't even bother to make Ebony Armor myself, I jumped right to Daedric. If you can grind out the extra points to unlock it, you just need the Daedric Hearts from a shop keeper or a mob.

Yeah, me too. I rocked the "Legendary" Steel Plate for a good while.

Skyrim's armor cap is ~570 displayed, which is 80% physical mitigation. Anything beyond that does nothing.

Using the Smithing/ Enchanting/ Alchemy loop, virtually any set of armor can hit that cap. I'll be using Elven to save myself 4 perk points, a lot of weight, and stamina drain.

Destruction mages don't wear these armors. We channel our inner Diaco and our enemies ***-plode.

But I look like Sauron from LOTR.

Actually my main purpose for leveling stuff this high is to sell it. Easy $$$
Dragon Armour fetches you lots of coin.
Hell, Ebony bows improved to Legendary are making bank.

I'm thinking about getting Skyrim. I'm just not sure if it's worth it.

It's the desert island game. Must own.

By the way, I won't get to play Skyrim until after Christmas, so I'm biding my time by mastering all of the game mechanics. If anyone has any questions on that subject, I'm happy to share my extensive nerd knowledge.

It is definitely worth it. I never played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games, but I am basically obsessed with Skyrim right now.

You should play Oblivion if you loved Skyrim. Oblivion is like Skyrim, except less snow, no dragons, but a crap ton of demons instead. Oblivion has a better plot, imo, and some of the guild quests are better (Definitely the Mages Guild). The final battle is more epic than Skyrim too.

Have any of you guys started the civil war quests yet? If so, Imperial Legion or Stormcloaks? I joined the legion a couple days ago.

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting Oblivion once Skyrim has run it's course. However, despite being about 60 hours into Skyrim, I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. I haven't finished the main, civil war, thieves guild, or companions quest lines and I haven't even started the Dark Brotherhood, College of Winterhold, or countless other side quests. There is a lot of milk left for me in this game.

I ended the Civil War questline yesterday...very short...But the Imperials have been crushed....STORMCLOAKS!!!!!!
Hopefully upcoming DLC will allow me to depose Ulfric and take my place as true HIGH KING...as well as take the war to the Thalmor

I actually did some serious research into this and i realized that if skyrim becomes independent then it couldnt stand up to the Thalmor, also, the Empire would be too weak to attack the thalmor without skyrim. in the end i decided it was better for humanity to join the empire, ulfric was a racist and wouldve led a suicidal war against the thalmor while the empire, after reunification, could bide time and build up a force strong enough to beat the Thalmor. In reality, both human sides are bad, but the imperials were the lesser of the two evils, they were also not racist like the stormcloaks, i wish there was a better way, but if you want humans to finally defeat the thalmor you should side with the legion. For the Empire!!

Research? I read up on my lore before the game released...I agree that neither can stand alone...

I will unite the empire under SKYRIM's banners.

Your lands will burn for the decision you made.

hahahaha

My character is a Nord...and patriotic. I realize Ulfric is evil and intend to destroy him from within.
