I was shocked when I saw reports of Herman to LSU a few days ago. Herman better win and win quickly however. Texas is a great job.... but boosters make it difficult. Keep in mind I really think boosters were the absolute main reason Saban didn't jump. Hope Herman does well in the end.

How much worse can the boosters be at UT than UAT? Can't imagine either group is tolerant of underperforming.

I think you forget what Bama was before Saban got there. Alabama's boosters had been thoroughly humbled when Saban showed up. Texas hasn't gotten to that point yet.

I would think the deep pockets in Texas got a little jumpy when they heard reports of Herman to LSU was possible and decided to act fast. With Jimbo wanting $6.5 mil a year over ten years, either Jimmy Sexton priced Jimbo out of a potential new gig or Herman just got paid a boatload.

If Jimbo truly wanted that it tells me he's happy at FSU. It would take a ridiculous contract offer to get him to move. I know Fisher thinks the next two years could be his best teams at FSU.

No boosters are tolerant. But after Nick got his first title at Bama, he pretty much relegated the boosters to the back of the room as far as the day to day of the football operations and how to run a program. The problem at Texas is simple. They have uber rich boosters who actually think they know how to run the Longhorn program and coach on Sat. Herman better win and win quickly in order to shut them up. With winning comes power.

Does Aranda look to move on elsewhere now? Don't know what his relationship is with Ed O. Could he go to Texas with Herman if in fact Herman gets the Longhorn job? Maybe he wants to move back up to the upper mid west and see ND as an opportunity, either under a Kelly coaches team or with a new coach leading the Irish. Should be interesting.

Aranda has a 3 year contract with LSU regardless of who HC is. Orgeron has already said he wants Aranda as his DC. He also is expected to make a play for his buddy Kiffin to run the offense. Unless Kiffin gets a HC job this off season.

If you're Kiffen, why would you leave Bama for a lateral (at best) move to an in-division rival? I feel like his best bet would be to stay put if he doesn't get the HC offer he's hoping for, because his stock will be worth more winning chips as the OC at Bama than it would be as OC at also-ran LSU. Am I way off on this one?

I think Jimmy Sexton floated those numbers out there. And I don't think Jimbo is happy at FSU. I think he has grown tired of the admin there and would leave if the right opportunity comes along. Not wanting to face Nick yearly was more of a factor in the LSU opening than the ridiculous numbers Sexton floated. But as it stands right now, it appears FSU is still the best gig for him right now.

Oh I 'member. When I was growing up Bama was pretty irrelevant. Honestly, didn't know much about them until Saban got the job and my dad said something along the lines of "Shit, they are back."

I think you are spot on with Wonder Boy. He may love Coach O but not at the expense of hurting his HC opportunities in the future.

Contract our not, Aranda may very well be willing to walk. Pretty sure his contract has the change in HC clause in it. Ed O should do all he can to keep him in the fold, but him leaving would not shock me either.

Aranda does not have a change in HC clause. He signed a 3 year contract with LSU so he is tied to them.

That doesn't mean that there can't be a clause in the contract addressing exactly this scenario. I mean, I'd be a little disappointed in his agent otherwise given the instability surrounding Miles going into the year.

Do you have a copy of his contract? Because I am willing to bet there is a clause in there that gets him out of it if there was a HC change. If he signed without that clause given the status of Les at the time, then he should fire the firm representing him.

This has been discussed in the past on II podcast. He wanted a three year deal given the uncertainty of Miles so he got the deal. But he doesn't have an out clause unless the new coach doesn't want him which is not the case.

Post the contract then. Because it was discussed on another site doesn't make it so. And, as I just posted, if he didn't have the clause, then he should fire his firm immediately.

What don't you get about this. Is it really that hard to understand? HE WANTED THE 3 YEAR DEAL TO PROTECT HIM IF MILES WAS FIRED. HE'S A DC WITH A GREAT JOB AT LSU IN A GREAT CONFERENCE. HE WANTS TO STAY THERE UNTIL HE GETS HIS OWN HC OFFER SOMEWHERE. THAT WILL BE HIS NEXT MOVE. THE AGENT DID EXACTLY WHAT HIS CLIENT WANTED. HE ALSO DOESN'T MOVE TO PICK UP HIS FAMILY AND MOVE THEM AGAIN ONE YEAR LATER UNLESS IT'S FOR A HC JOB. THIS WAS NOT POSTED ON ANOTHER SITE. IT WAS ON A PODCAST CONDUCTED BY REPORTERS WHO ACTUALLY RESEARCHED ARANDA'S DEAL WITH LSU. IT WAS THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED AND SOURCED.

It doesn't matter if Kiffin is the OC of Bama or LSU in regards to getting his next job. They're both top gigs and if anything, getting LSU's offense turned around would be a bigger deal than winning another NC at Bama.

Let's avoid all caps. I feel like I just read a text from my mother or grandma.

You mad bro'?

And I will guarantee that buried in that contract is an out for him. And again... if not, then he should fire his firm immediately because almost all contacts have an "out." Enjoy.

So LSU had since about week 4 to pull together a short list of HC candidates. But, at the end, it seems like their list was just Tom Herman. And id Herman falls through, just stick with what they got. Nothing against Ed O, I was actually pulling for him since he seems like a good guy and the players love him. But you've got a program that has been struggling for an offensive identity so the plan is to keep an interim HC in place who's primarily a defensive guy? When you've already got Aranda? I'd have thought LSU would have made a play for P.J. Fleck or another offensive wunderkid type to be HC. Ed O needs to make a strong OC hire if he's going to last. And I don't see Joey Freshwater making that move at all.

Not your "bro". Just have a problem carrying on a conversation with an obviously dense person.
