Well there you have it...
Herman to LSU, Fedora to Texas. Easy peasy.
And Briles back to Houston?

Yes, he turned them down.
And Briles back to Houston?
Why not... They're the UNLV of the Gulf, a renegade school. Fertitta is about winning. He lost the BiG12 bid, he lost Herman, Briles makes sense. It's a pro town anyways, they don't care about the ethics of college football. Give them a winner and they'll turn their collective head.

curious: was Briles ever considered for UT when mack brown left?
Perhaps because he went 10-25, with one of the worst offenses in the country, as the head coach at Ole Miss. Some guys are just meant to be an assistant coach.
On the subject of Mack Brown, I read a funny rumor yesterday. Supposedly Mack has been pushing Fedora as a possibility for the UT job.... based on the speculation I read, the reason for this is because Mack is hopeful that if the UNC job were to open, they would look at hiring him.
Just goes to show... never trust the talking heads.
what's up with the SEC having a game on Thanksgiving night?
If Herman lands at LSU, and UT wins today, Strong may end up keeping his job. But there are tons of UT alums who have had enough of him regardless.
Options for UT? Names being mentioned are Miles and Fedora. ANd don't forget they went after Mora hard when they ended up with Strong. Can't see Briles getting a job in Big 12...too much baggage/bad publicity.
wow houston loses to memphis
A&M used to play tU every thanksgiving. They filled that void by losing to lsu every thanksgiving. It's a tradition...
Herman is a good candidate in a very small pool of worthy candidates. I think the teams jumped the shark in the bidding process b/c he's going to break the bank despite being a far cry from where Urban Meyer was back in 2004.
The coaching market in CFB is totally wrecked right now because of Saban (and to a lesser extent Meyer). Every blueblood and quasi-blueblood (LSU and for instance) thinks that they are entitled to that kind of success. They don't understand that success like that is unprecedented in CFB history. I firmly believe that the parity in college football is going to make it harder and harder for teams to notch double digit wins with consistency.
Eeeesh Houston loses again. But, I can kind of understand that with all the distractions.
Texas and A&M used to play every Friday after thanksgiving. Nebraska vs Colorado also.

LSU reportedly giving Coach Ed O the HC job. Good for them I guess.

Interesting. I wonder if they would still fire Les if they knew what the outcome would be.
Has to mean Herman to Texas is a done deal, no? Just can't imagine them making Ed O primary target.
Texas search must look something like:
1a) Herman
1b) Fisher
3) Fedora

.
.
10) retain Strong
I would think the deep pockets in Texas got a little jumpy when they heard reports of Herman to LSU was possible and decided to act fast. With Jimbo wanting $6.5 mill over ten years, either Jimmy Sexton priced Jimbo out of a potential new gig or Herman just got paid a boatload.
Finebaum just said Herman's contact with LSU was just playing games.
They've been acting since the OSU game. Strong was done when he lost back to backs against the OK schools. Houston not getting in the BIG12 meant that Fertitta couldn't pay/keep Herman. It was completely over then. I couldn't believe the Gorney Tweet that I posted here saying LSU was getting Herman. All things considered, UT is the best job in the country... especially for a guy who's had his hand in Texas football almost his entire career.
Finebaum also said ND sold its soul to the devil to compete, so I will forever take anything that turd says with a grain of salt.
