I get that - and won't argue your point. Really all the rebuttals to my post are valid and respected.....

My argument is based on what I see on the field and how BK manages and controls (or lack thereof) a game, players and staff - is he really trying his best to 'recruit' Juniors to stay for their Senior year.

I like that someone gave you multiple examples, though, of juniors staying for their senior year and you came back with a "Yeah, but I meant these guys". There's always going to be juniors leaving early for the NFL, at any program that is worth it's salt. Notre Dame recruits top-10 classes out of high school, and those guys are usually the ones that go on to play in the NFL. If you're going to recruit high level athletes, they're going to have their eyes set on the pros. The fact that he got McGlinchey and Nelson to come back last year, and Coney/Tranquil/Tillery all to come back this year shouldn't be a "Yeah, but what about Josh Adams, huh?!" and realize that Adams is the outlier there, and not the pattern you're trying to make. Coach Kelly is more often bringing back those guys with another year to go, not the other way around.

I think Book might be starting for us this weekend. I don't have access, but that is what it sounds like from the comments and what some other boards were saying.

I would say he is. There's an old saying coaches like to use........."Give me a good group of seniors over a good group of juniors anyday". One year makes a big difference in experience, mental toughness and strength.

I don't think he'll start, but I think Book is going to get the chance to start some drives instead of coming in for a play or two.

Can't see Book starting this game. He changes the whole dynamic of the offense. Some in good ways and others not so much. With two teams coming up soon who can get after the QB, I don't know if Book has enough mobility to offset Stanford and Va Tech's rush. Get up on WF early and let him play some but changing QBs at this point will not help BW's confidence at all.

1. Book imo doesn't have the overall athleticism as BW, but he def has some "quick" wheels...he is very quick and decisive....his problem has been when he decides not to be quick and decisive just like wimbush...then he goes into gunslinger mode and that doesn't bode well for us

2. exactly...i would give him a couple of series IF wimbush isn't moving the team...but lets also call a better game plan....it seems as though they keep trying to see if he can put the team on his back w/ passing...he can't thus far...he has made progress but NOT to the degree they thought he would...im still TEAM WIMBUSH but Book deserves some time as well

Book is faster than y'all think. He's not going to run through a tackler for 1-2 more yards like Wimbush, but he's almost as effective as a RPO/scrambler if you ask me.

You're not wrong but something has to change to improve the passing game. If you can get more out of Book, you have to make the switch and implement a game plan that takes away the pass rush to some extent - three step drops, move the pocket, mix it up with some screens, etc. Book is crafty in the pocket too. He's no statue.

Book can definitely be a dual threat but he’ll never be electric as Wimbush. That said, Wimbush hasn’t had many “electric” moments yet due to scheme/play-calling. What worries me about Book is while everyone remembers the key passes in the LSU game that led ND to victory, they seem to forget the fact that he threw as many picks (some really bad ones) as he did TDs.

BC was able to throw over the top of the Wake safeties at least four times with huge gains/TDs. I don’t know if either ND QB can do that consistently but Wimbush definitely has the arm for it.

I just hope Kelly/Long don't outsmart themselves.

Yeah. Fine to give Book a few legitimate series, instead of just this goal line business. I dunno about starting him though.
Wake has probably the weakest defense we’ve played yet. Seems like a good opponent for Wimbush to build up some much needed confidence ahead of two big tests to come.

Book had trouble pushing the ball downfield last season. I hope the positive camp reports are a sign that he's improved in that area. His advantages in the short and intermediate passing game may not count for much if he can't threaten the safeties.

I think Wimbush has confidence. I think he's just a bad thrower, guys. His throws look pretty, but he doesn't make quick decisions, can't go through progressions, and is inaccurate too often.

I like the idea of giving Book half the game. If all of a sudden we have a legit passing attack to go with our rising running game (+ Dexter next week), all while not giving up any speed, just power - let's see what he can do.

He deserves a shot. And Wimbush hasn't played in a way that would warrant him keeping it without a challenge.

We can put Aaron Rodgers back there but if Chase Claypool keeps quiting on routes or getting off his route line & Boykin continues running wrong route & both of them along w/ Finke keep dropping catchable balls, it’s not going to matter. Not to mention, none of those three have shown they can get behind a defense.

I’m just glad it was the back-up b/c my. Bet is the starter who had just been ejected for targeting defends that pass if not outright picks it. Big picture though...who cares?…Finke made a great catch & ND won!

Your posts are just one big Wimbush apology tour. Stop making excuses and produce. If your teammates are "giving up" on their routes is not of that a reflection on you? ESB had the same negatives on him last year - yet somehow he is a pro. Confidence runs both ways - my counterpoint being the WR have no confidence in BW delivering them the ball where it needs to be and if he does they more often than not seem surprised by it.

Well with the report out that Aaron Rodgers was upset with the lack of effort from the back ups, I would refrain from using ESB as an example. He has loads of talent, like Claypool, but apparently doesn't put effort in eve when you got one of the greats throwing to him. Or is that a reflection of Rodgers?

Yeah let's Brandon come out throwing and make him stay in the pocket all game to get some work on reads, footwork and making the throws in what should be a glorified practice. It will build his confidence!
