After thinking about this more, I think I have my thoughts together. It’s incredibly frustrating and inconvenient to ND fans. Especially considering the fact that not only do we now have to pay for a subscription to a service, that most of us do not want one to, the initial streaming of the Olympics hasn’t gone well on the app. I this is incredibly poor timing considering this will be the first home game with fans in 2 years and this just sucks the air out of excitement from watching a full home game from home.

Also, I think limiting access to games will hurt us growing the brand to new fans, recruits, etc. Recruits constantly say “Every game is on national tv” well son not so fast. If you wanna check us out this season to start our home season on our OWN tv contract, you’re gonna have to pay $8 to watch it.

You probably know this, but I've seen a ton of confused people online...

opening "home" week.

A lot of people seem to think this is the first game of the season. Just trying to help some.

Yes, but good catch. I'll edit it to read as such.

As a Toledo fan waiting for this game to happen my entire life... This sucks for Toledoans not attending. Lots of ND alum and Catholic folks are in the area as well. I went to a Jesuit H.S. and we had a handful of kids go to ND, so I feel for them (but at least they can figure it out).

Of all the fanbases... do they think NDs fans will know how to even subscribe? No offense but yall have the largest old fan base in the nation. I suppose its only one game, but its also the home opener. Weird look.

OTOH, they're even less likely to figure out how to pirate the stream.

This is getting to be ridiculous! I agree with what you’ve pointed out and I’ll add to that, some of us do not even have streaming level internet capabilities. So now I and I assume some others will be trying to find a way to make it work. Can’t just count on the NBC TV contract now that greed has got involved. So I already pay to have NBC local channels to watch ND football, now I have to pay for what I already have, and pay for their streaming service, just to make sure I don’t miss a game. Bad idea for ND. I wish it wasn’t an issue for me, but it is.

Why so much talk about this???

Who doesn't stream? I've streamed everything but Apple TV. I do it for a month, binge what I want and cancel. Rotate something in and out every month.

It's also the future of everything. Quit complaining. We bought a Smart TV for my Chick's 78 y/o Mom two years ago and she cut her own cord and watches everything through an app now.

And if you wanna stick it to JS's daughter, pirate it a gazillion different ways.

Look I respect, and eagerly await all of your posts. But what part of some of us don’t have streaming level internet service don’t you understand? Stop patronizing with your Grandma talk. It’s not the same for all of us, if it was I wouldn’t say a thing. It’s simply frustrating to pay for a service to watch what I want to watch, only to have to pay for something more, just to watch what I want to watch, that well… I can’t watch.

Thanks for the reminder that I'm supposed to be happy about paying for something that's always been free because it's the future.

It’s Toledo. I’m not gonna watch if I have to pay extra to watch the worst game of the season.

Not a fan of the premium membership to watch games, but I’ve spent $8 on worse things.

This will probably be my first Saturday that I can remember where I didn't watch a live ND game.... I've missed weddings, stayed in for vacations, rearranged a schedule... this is just stupid

So one time $8 or a month?

It's $4.99/mo for Premier membership or $49/yr. The $9.99 option is to go ad-free (which wouldn't even apply to live television) and download content to mobile. Not even remotely worth the extra tier IMO...

It would be amazing if ND fans everywhere got together in huge watch parties and shoved it to their subscriptions/viewership for this.

We actually just decided we are heading down for this one. Glad I don't have to be at the mercy of a Peacock stream.

I just tried using the peacock app last night to cast a movie from my phone to the TV. The app would disconnect every 4-5 minutes and took just as long to reconnect making it unwatchable. Congratulations Peacock. If you don't have the app directly on your Smart TV, I can only imagine it will be unwatchable as well.

There are still quite a few big patches in the Greater Cincy area that don't have high-speed internet access. Plenty of neighborhoods have outdated infrastructure that the big cable companies aren't willing to pay to update yet, especially for those neighborhoods where everything is under ground.

And if that's the greater Cincy area... I'm sure there's not an insignificant amount of people elsewhere that would screwed if ND was available exclusively through streaming.

We just moved, but the guys in my old neighborhood aren't going to be able to stream Peacock on the available 5mbsp when their wives and kids are all sucking up the limited bandwidth at the same time.

Best way to stream this for everyone here is probably to:
1. Pull it up on my PC
2. Stream it on a Discord server
3. Invite everyone to the Discord server

Right? How many people here know how to use Discord?

That is normal for Peacock. I have HBO max, Prime, Netflix and Peacock. Peacock is the WORSE hands down.

Is there any place to park for free, that a shuttle or bus or even UBER would be able to get us close to the tailgating lots? Im coming with non drinkers, so its not worth the setup pain to pay 40$ at the ( Toledo suggested golf course), and still be far from the action. Many Toledoans have big ND spots so as long as we arent miles away that helps. Suggestions? Maps?

You can park in the neighborhoods south of Angela boulevard for free on the street. Just expect about a 10-20 minute walk if you’re okay with that. That’s what I usually do.

I've got an app called ZForce TV. I can watch pretty much anything on there. And its fairly inexpensive. Any blackout NFL games. I can watch. Baseball games that aren't televised here. I can watch.

Here is the "Parking Suggestions" thread that was actually bumped yesterday; gives you some cheap options just off of campus if you aren't interested in paying $40+. You can actually pay about $20 at some spots and be only 10 minutes from the stadium.
