Odd-ish question: I'm going to Michigan at Purdue this year and have never been to Purdue, anywhere I should go Friday night or before/after the game? I've heard that some of the students get to the bars at 7am for what's called 'Breakfast Club', but nothing beyond that. Anyone who's been there care to help?

I've been to the last two Purdue games, and will be at this one this year.

The one in 2010, my first Notre Dame game ever, was so beautiful that I'd be lying if I said that walking into the stadium didn't almost make me tear up. Just an awesome, awesome day.

Knock on wood for great weather again and another Irish victory!! That said I have a very uneasy feeling about this game.

Are any recruits going to come to this game? Justin Brent I believe, but anyone else?

Got my tickets in the mail a couple days ago. Made a bet with myself, seeing as the Irish are 1-0 at home when I'm in attendance, I will tattoo the Fighting Leprechaun on my arm if they win this one! Go Irish!

So, are any of you all meeting up before or after the game? I will be at the game with a couple of my military buddies and my Mom. This is not our first game but we have only been able to watch the games and then had to leave. This time we will be staying until Monday and want to meet some people and check out the sites, Grotto, Golden Dome, CFB Hall of fame, etc. Let me know, we will have lots of beer and are great people to hang out with and talk ND football.

Go Irish!

Tippecanoe County court records show that Beckford was arrested by the West Lafayette Police Department. Details of what led to his arrest were not immediately available Monday night, but Beckford has already been charged in Tippecanoe Superior Court 4 with possession of paraphernalia and possession of a synthetic drug. The possession of paraphernalia charge is a Class D felony because Beckford has at least one other prior conviction for it, from August 2011 in Tippecanoe County.

It is absolutely insane that this is a felony, anywhere. I hope this kid gets this reduced to a misdemeanor. After Sept 8, of course.

I'd say there's about a 100% chance that he doesn't play, he was on probation for possession of marijuana at the time of this arrest. He's sorta screwed.

Beckford had 91 tackles in 2011, as well as Hon Ment All-B1G. It's a sizable loss.

Class D felony, could easily be reduced to a misdemeanor; but if he is on probation, it usually means a stiffer sentence if caught again.

Let me handle this... ::takes deep breath::

Harry's has long been THE establishment although it is kinda tight quarters and gets packed quickly. It is also the closest bar to campus in the Chauncey Hill area where most of the bars are.

Jake's is another one in the Chauncey Hill area that I am not afraid to recommend. (Interesting side note - I did see Drew Brees making out with 2 chicks at the same time outside this establishment one weekend during my Junior year.)

Where Else was the traditional epicenter of Breakfast Club, although I think it may be gone now. Again, it would be in the Chauncey Hill area as well.

If you want to walk a little farther off campus, there are a couple bars down the hill in an area called The Levee. That is where you will find The Neon Cactus - a very deceiving name, as it only plays country music one night a week last I was there. It also contains the infamous Piano Bar inside it, where every visitor to West Lafayette should experience Bruce the Piano Man once in their lifetime. 9 Irish Brothers is a newer one down in the levee that is a bit more relaxed. Also, there is a BW3 in The Levee too.

You must eat at Triple *** diner. It is on Chauncey Hill and open 24 hours (at least it used to be), so it always made a great drunk meal stop on the way home from the bars. Also, Guy Fieri went there on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so how could you go wrong? make sure you get a milk shake or their own brand of root beer (they do not serve alcohol though).

The best thing about it is that there are so many bars within short walking distance of campus and the hotels in downtown Lafayette as well. Oh yeah, you also used to be able to get a handout at halftime to go out and tailgate and then return to the stadium, but I don't know if they do that any more!

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Violating probation is pretty bad. Would be amazed if that dude plays. Anyhow, if we don't stomp these guys I will be disappointed. First, this will be my first game in South Bend. Second, all this talk about Purdue being better than last year assumes that the Irish will be worse. Not really seeing that.

Thanks for all the information! Really sounds like I need to stay around the Chauncey Hill area.

He's also been arrested 4 times in the past year or so. He's done.

Purdue struggling with turnovers in the first half against Eastern KY today. Seems they may have a little work to do before next week too.

Pass defense is my only concern headed into next week, since we've dominated their running game three years running and we racked up 287 yards on the ground last year.

I agree. I can see this years outcome being similar to last years based on what I have seen from both teams today though.

Does anyone else think Purdue is the perfect tune up for the tougher games on our schedule?

I feel like they are like a 70 to 80% version of everyone else. They will (more or less) play the same style of ball that Oklahoma or usc will, they just have less talent where the better teams have more talent. I think that this game next week will be a great gauge for where we really are on all fronts.

I don't know about a tune up, but Purdue will certainly give us a more accurate picture of what this team is going to look like.

Yeah I was debating whether or not to use those words. It's not to say that I think it will be a cake walk, but if we can't handle Purdue, we're in for much bigger problems down the road.

Purdue might be tough, simply because of the weaknesses in the secondary. We will find out a lot about the pass rush. If Shembo and Williams and Councell have good games, that would be amazing.

Do you guys think Golson is still the starter against Purdue? I would say yes, but I guess you never know

He did what he needed to do. This was his first action in a game and he did a great job controlling the offense. He looks so much more composed in the pocket than Rees and Hendrix
