I'm not sleeping on this game at all, they have some weapons on offense... and every year the Pitt's, BC's, Navy's and the like get up for us and we all pull our hair out even when we manage to win the game, which isn't always... I see this game as one of those. I doubt it'll be comfortable.

They still have 3 weeks for a few more players to leave, fingers crossed. I'm with you though. Charlie Strong is a fantastic coach who will find ways to cause us fits.

Agreed.

What I want every year: to hand out ass-whoopins to teams that we should beat handily.

What I get every year: Pitt, Northwestern, Tulsa, USF, Purdue, Syracuse, North Carolina

Texas is a big time program with enough 4 & 5 star prospects on the roster to be a monster threat to us. Neither team has an identity when we strap on our helmets, let's hope we come out with our foot on the gas.

here's a nice briefing on this year's Texas team

2015 Texas Longhorns football preview

1 Which quarterback leads the team? Although junior quarterback Tyrone Swoopes started 12 games last season, he and redshirt freshman Jerrod Heard entered camp in a battle for the starting job. Texas is moving to an up-tempo spread offense which will be tailored to quarterbacks’ strengths. Swoopes provides a strong arm and functional mobility. Heard is a speedy quarterback who has the ability to lead the team with his legs. Strong says both quarterbacks will have their chance to play this season. But the Longhorns are looking for a quarterback to emerge and lead the team to an improved record in 2015.

2 Will the defense drop off? Statistically the Longhorns had a good year defensively in 2014. They led the conference in passing defense, ranked second in total defense and third in scoring defense. But Texas lost key players – defensive tackle Malcom Brown, defensive end Cedric Reed, linebackers Jordan Hicks and Steve Edmond, cornerback Quandre Diggs and safety Mykkele Thompson. The Longhorns have brought in an athletic group of defensive freshmen who will see playing time in 2015. Defensive Coordinator Vance Bedford said there’s been a drop-off in the defense. But will the defensive production see a major drop-off in 2015?

3 Will the Longhorns find playmakers? While Texas is looking for a quarterback, Strong and the offensive staff are looking for playmakers to emerge. “Everyone else around (the quarterbacks) needs to play well also,” Strong said at Big 12 media days. “We need to find playmakers at wide receiver. We need the running backs.” The Longhorns have a slew of talent at wide receiver and running back. It’s a matter of which players will step up and help the team. Texas needs to find playmakers to help their quarterbacks and offense succeed in 2015.

Should be enough to keep it a close game.

As I do with all my analysis, I base my predictions on how a team fared against Iowa State the last two years. In this case Texas has won by a combined score of 4 points.

Their O-line struggled massively last year. First qb threw a lot of picks last year too, and the second guy is a RS freshman.

Them playing hurry up just leaves more time on the board for us to advance our lead!

Too much confidence this early. We have a lot of players but we have no idea whether we'll play as a team or a collection of 11 talented individuals.

Charlie Strong: If Texas played today, 'it would be Tyrone' at QB - CBSSports.com

By Jerry Hinnen

Though the competition between 2014 starter Tyrone Swoopes and redshirt freshman Jerrod Heard isn't over, Strong told reporters Saturday that if Texas's season opener against Notre Dame was today, "it would be Tyrone" getting the starting nod. Swoopes started 12 games a season ago for the Longhorns, throwing for 2,409 yards with a 13-to-11 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

But former four-star, top-100 recruit Heard has been in an open competition with Swoopes throughout spring camp, summer workouts and now the Longhorns' fall camp. Despite Heard's talent, however, the junior Swoopes' experience has by all accounts kept him astep ahead of Heard throughout the year.

If the Longhorns' starting job seems all but settled, though, it's safe to assume Heard will get his chance. Both offensive coordinator Shawn Watson and Strong have said both quarterbacks will see the field against the Irish on Sept. 5.

"They both are going to play," Strong said in July. "When we line up in South Bend, whoever is going to start, the other guy is going to play also."

Is anyone really excited more than usual for the first game. I am excited that we have a good team. Texas VS ND... love we are starting the season right (Doesn't hurt that we r really good and Texas is going to have a down year)
It's just more fun than playing Temple week 1

Hey guys, Texas fan here (obviously). Coming up with my family and curious about parking/tailgating. I've seen/read most of everything online, but was curious for real opinions. We'll have a rental car (2 actually) and want to just set up a small tailgate behind the cars. How is the golf course for that? Any good/bad experiences? And is it just pay as you drive in? Or is it worth shelling out more for a lot closer in?

Thanks guys, really excited about the trip. Should be a ton of Texas fans in town, so hope both sides have a good time win or lose.

Golf course is fine for that. I've had a few there myself. You pay as you go in, but get there early.

Watched a show on the Longhorn network last night and they had Bruce Feldman on to preview the the ND - Texas game. Feldman had some really faltering this to say about ND. Said we potentially could have one of the best wide receiving groups in the country. Spoke highly of our secondary. Also said J Smith is a freak athlete and is going to have a coming out party this year. I cant wait for the season to start.

Bruce must be making the rounds. He fellated us on Rome yesterday, too. Said pretty much the same things. Hope he is right!

If our QB doesn't shit the bed and we show any semblance whatsoever of a pass rush, we'll be silly good this year.
