PA - they are actually on the mid-week visit right now after just being at A&M this past weekend. Both tweeted out pictures of their potential Texas jerseys.

Any idea where the best place would be to get reasonably priced tickets for this game?

Not picky on where the seat is, just want to get in the door for my first Notre Dame game and this one would be a great one to pop the cherry.

It's too early. Alumni and season ticket holders have not even started their application process.

Kinda what I was thinking. Figured I'd ask. No experience dealing with bigtime college football.

Wasn't sure where to post this but posting it here since I'm going to this game. A group of friends and I are renting a motor home for this game but I see that all vehicles have to be out of the lots by 3 hours after the game is over. I'm sure nobody will be able to drive at that point so I'm looking for help on where in South Bend might be a good place to park for the night? Thanks for any help.

Won't be sober 3 hours after the game? You can't take beverages into the stadium, and they don't sell alcohol inside. Counting 3 hours after the game and roughly 3 hours for the gae itself, that gives at least 1 person in your party about 6 hours to sober up and drive somewhere off campus like a hotel to finish partying if you like.

Well, good luck then  Just don't get thrown out. Back in 2011 an Army buddy of mine got thrown out of the stadium in record time. It was the Air Force game, we had just taken our seats and watched the Stealth Bomber fly overhead. First series started and I left briefly to say "Hi" to my grandparents and brother in the gold seats (They had a ticket for me in that spot, but not an extra one for my buddy, I effectively had 2 tickets for myself). As the first series was ending my brother decided he'd go sit with my buddy for a quarter so he took my other ticket and started heading back. Before he got to the seats he saw my Army buddy getting escorted out of the stadium for his drunkenness. My brother took one for the team and left the stadium with him to watch over him (And because he felt guilty, he was the one mixing the drinks). On the plus side, because I purchased my buddy's ticket, a few months later I got a sweet letter from Notre Dame detailing how alcohol is no good inside the stadium and if I break the rule again I won't be allowed to purchase tickets anymore. I should have framed it, but I threw it in the garbage.

TLDR: Don't get too intoxicated in the stadium or flash booze, people will rat you out even if you're serving our country (He wasn't in full dress, just fatigues, boots, and Army sweatshirt). Also, you may get a strongly worded letter from the University.

Any guesses on what I should budget for ticket costs and maybe recommendations for where to stay pretty cheap(I know that's subjective)?

Probably the wrong thread to do this in but oh well.

Don't like this game to start, Strong will have them pumped for this and a first game of this stature has its drawbacks-this schedule will be a bear--more to talk about later but I don't like this as a first game.

Hey guys,

Booked my hotel this morning. Coming up with 10 or so other Longhorns, and very excited for the trip. Half of us are going to stay in South Bend instead of Chicago. I've been there plenty of times, and as a huge college football fan in general I'd rather take in the campus and pre-game stuff.

Tickets are going to be a concern, but I've never NOT made it into a game and that counts two NC games. Obviously going to be a big game, what is normal price for big OOC games like this? I'd assume the OU game a few years ago would be similar, as we'll bring as many fans if not more.

The game itself, eh, not very confident. As yall have already said, limited offense and lost a lot on defense. I think we've got a lot of good freshmen that will be playing next year, but, first game of the year in South Bend will not be kind for someone taking their first college snap. We're supposedly changing the offense (adding to it) and going to have a more uptempo and spread offense. Which will fit Heard (RS Freshman) much better. If Swoopes is named the starter...I'm cancelling the trip. He's seriously that bad.

Anyway, a long ways out I know, just wanted to say howdy. If anyone has any tips for things to do/see, we're definitely all ears. We know the main traditional stuff, but could use some places to eat, things like that.

Oh yeah, also saw the other day that the Xfinity Series race was already scheduled for 3:30ET for NBC. So, that'd pretty much confirm we'll be a night game you'd assume right?

That would kinda suck, because I was hoping they'd save the night game for USC. Of course, they might just play both games at night.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want upscale restaurants, I'd recommend the LaSalle Grille, Café Navarre, and Ciao's. For a good Irish pub, I recommend Fiddler's Hearth. There's also a good whiskey bar downtown called the Exchange. Hope this helps.

I believe the plan going into this year was to have 2 night games. When the contract with NBC was re-upped, a specific number of night games was put into the contract that evened out to having one year with at least 2 night games.

Don't forget SS will be an NBC night game.

I'd be cool with a night game to open the season. ND/Texas is the biggest game on September 5 and the only real competition would be Wisky/Bama.

Have to be careful, my brother almost got booted at the Nevada game a couple years back for sneaking in a flask. He flew in from NYC and pops and I came in from FL so the usher let it slide. He still made campus police take down his name.

Lou was great at these games for getting the fire stoked-I hope Kelly can do the same. This game will be tight and tough-Strong WILL have them ready and better in their 2nd year. You guys are just kidding yourselves if you think this one will be easy. I think Kelly is a fantastic coach but these big games where people say Notre Dame should win have been a bugger. If Notre Dame struggles to win or gets beat I think its a direct reflection on the entire season. Personally I don't like opening up with this type of game. Navy should be the lid lifter every year if we must play them at all and go from there. Texas will be tough-mark that down. By the way have you seen opening games next year --across the board the best I've ever seen, there will be some seasons ended real soon next year.

Texas should still have a pretty good defense, so it should be a good test for our Offense...

never heard of the exchange, is that new?

also, if it still exists i'd recommend Oyster Bar downtown.

Last year, I had Rice tickets at $70 face value and Michigan tickets at $110 face value. The hot ticket this year will be USC, with Texas likely coming in second. I'd expect to be right around the $100 mark.
