While everyone else is preparing to go to South Bend, I just drove to the town over to pick up some liquor (my city is a dry city) to stock up for the weekend. Starting with tonights game, maybe swing by a local highschool game or two, and then up on Saturday.

Safe travels for everyone headed that way. It still has not struck me that football season is really here.

Hayseed and Manti were asked about USF WR _______, and didn't appear to know much about him because there is no tape on him from last season (injured). Obviously that correlates to "they don't know anything about us and think it's an easy win".

Typical motivational tactics for an underdog:

"No one respects us."

"They're overlooking us."

There's very little evidence that we're overlooking the Bulls, but if some jackwagons on a message board want to get all worked up about it, they can have at it.

USF isn't gonna sneak up on anyone this year, so I'm not sure how well that type of motivation will work for the team itself.

If you ask me, with all of those USF fans saying that we are "looking past" them, it seems that they have no confidense in their team beating us with their talent. It seems for them to beat us we have to "look past" them. If thats the case then I feel bad for them because there is no way in a million years we will "look past" them. Aaron Lynch's facebook status is perfect evidence that arent looking past them.

If I didn't see Gary Shelton's name atop this column, I would have assumed that it was written by Jim Donaldson of the Providence Journal, unfortunately a Notre Dame alum and quite likely the worst sports columnist in the country. He has made a living authoring garbage like this.

A 15-year old program with literally no history is about the square off against a 100+ year old program with more history than most of the FBS combined. This has naturally given some Bulls fans (and one sportswriter apparently) an inferiority complex. So he spends an entire column dismissing our history and calling us irrelevant, only to finish with this:

Yes, Notre Dame remains a brand name. And yes, even now, a win against the Irish still carries a certain cache for USF.

You have to laugh at the hypocrisy. ND is irrelevant until your team is going to play us; then a win would be "historic". Give me a break.
