I forgot where i read it but it was a paid site so either rivals/247 but they indicated that it was denbrock doing the play calling w/ BK having final say...so this isn't sanford's doing...plus following the texas game, robertson said he loved how denbrock called the game and they showed him how they would use him which is what he liked
The defense will have to stay focused, man the lanes, and BVG HAS to keep the urge not to blitz against this GT offense!!!
This was my inclination with Denbrock being the one calling the shots even though all three are collaborating. Denbrock was getting an ear full at one point during the game at UVA from Kelly. Kelly may get final say but does Kelly really have time to switch plays up in the middle of a game? I doubt it, and I think some of the play calls were NOT the ones Kelly had in mind.
It seems like its just a cluster f**k when it comes to calling plays. I actually wish Sanford was calling the plays.
Can't quote the Colin post -
What was Colin's take? Wondering if his new show gives him a different perspective. He's always been Anti-ND, and he's the only ESPN personality I really think that's true for. Loves every other big program but ND, not sure why.
Let Harry call the plays lol
Do you think Alize Jones gets a significant number of targets in the passing game or will it be another TE like Weishar?
More I think about the game, this is my feeling - Our defense feels a burden and sense of urgency. Let's be honest, GT is not a 'sexy' top 15 team. So while they'd naturally be up for playing a ranked team, it's not the same as the Clemson game, even though they're ranked pretty closely. The burden comes from the sadness of Malik and his emotions. Elliot also feels the pressure, as well as BVG wanting to stick it too Paul Johnson (which obviously goes both ways, but it's kool aid Wednesday, so...), and how poorly they played last week. So basically the defense playes beyond their potential, and Kizer is OK - good enough, not great. The defense cannot keep this sense of urgency every game, and Kizer will slowly improve but having him now the starter will end up costing us in a game or 2 where the defense no longer feels the weight/burden and we have to have Kizer win us a game. So I think we're OK the next 3 games because 1) Defense will carry the burden this week. 2) Massachussete's isn't beating us. And 3) We'll all be up for Clemson.
I think Schmidt is playing bad, but missing Jarron Jones in the middle is to create space might be hurting him more than we realize. Jones is prone to take a play off from time to time, but when it's go time, he's been more impressive than any DL since Tuitt/Nix, IMO.
Watched the Kelly presser from yesterday. I always try to cue in on Kelly's demeanor, tone, pace etc...
Kelly seemed very different from the first two weeks. Texas and Virginia he was very calm very confident basically no emotion.
Yesterday he had a nervous energy about him. I feel he took it off autopilot. I hope he got the creative juices flowing and gets this team emotional this week.
We need our D to get a turnover, we need a big sack at a crucial moment we need a few of the players on D to step up and make a play (KVR, Romeo, Schmidt)
Our O Line must control the game or nothing else matters. If we can impose our will and control the clock we can keep points down.
I am excited to see Deshone and Branden play Saturday, but I still get a sick feeling knowing Malik is out for the year.
I am more curious to see if Alize lays a block or two down this game. Most unimpressive performance relative to hype I have seen in quite some time.
We should be able to line up and pound these guys offensively. We spend so much time fretting over their offense but their D leaves a lot to be desired.
Are we better off spreading the field or loading up TEs? I haven't been impressed with the TE blocking by and large. At this point I would rather have Brown and Robinson blocking outside than Alize blocking inside (or anywhere for that matter), and it isn't even close.
His emotions really get to me. I love CFB and hardly watch NFL because of the emotional difference in the fans, coaches, and players. If I could, I'd walk into a doctor's office and allow them to snap my ankle in place of Malik's. That kid is everything that is rare but right about college football. No one deserves to be on the field more than him.
It was tough not to feel bad for the kid. Football is a cruel game.

this is the stuff that gets me....i don't believe it to be odd...i feel a lot of times, the plays are too scripted w/ personnel which we have discussed at length but also specific targets...this just kind of puts perspective on things imo...its easy to game plan when you show tendencies
