McElwain is actually saying the suspensions for some may be longer than just the Michigan game.

Calculated risk. Sure keeping them out for Northern Colorado week 2 isn't going to affect the outcome, but does he really want them untested going into the Tennessee game?

I think the WR may be the one at most risk of getting more than one game. We shall see. But yeah... the UT game is big for the East division. Will be interesting seeing what Jim Mc does.

Report: Two Florida players, one already on suspension, cited for drug possession

According to their report, freshmen Ventrell Miller and James Robinson were charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Robinson, you may recall, was cited for drug use at Ohio State last winter during his recruitment. That incident resulted in several programs backing off from their interest in him, however, Florida obviously took another route.

Also of note, Miller is already facing a suspension for the Michigan game following his role in the credit card fraud scheme cooked up by seven Florida players.

He told the group (NCAA investigators, his lawyers, and Ole Miss lawyers and reps) he had never intended on signing with Ole Miss and that as he took the payment, he was still deciding between LSU and Mississippi State. Lewis was then pressed by a lawyer for Ole Miss as to why he took the money.”

‘I just wanted the money,'” he said. “‘Cause I needed it … We was moving to a house, and I actually had my daughter. My dad had just went to prison. Uh yeah, so needed it, so I took it. asked for it, and I took it.'

He also admitting to taking at least $11K in benefits from Mississippi State, and Godfrey says Lewis may have received cash offers from all the schools he was considering for his commitment.

Lewis’ mother, Tina Henderson...had received multiple cash offers for Lewis, including $650,000 from LSU and $80,000 from Mississippi State.

Ole Miss is crying tears that Ms State has been drawn into this. The Bag Man cometh.

Getting even uglier at Ole Miss. The story sounds to me like Bjork may have some explaining to do.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...79f191668ed_story.html?utm_term=.14a3bde8da20

Tough to have sympathy for the protagonist in the article-- he gave rides, food, and lodging...but only accidentally. Yeah, sure, whatever, Farrar. No reasonable person can believe anything you say after that.

Props to the bookstore owner for suing the mississippi state players.

ncaa is a total joke. Leo Lewis admits to taking money from 2 schools...but remains eligible to play for mississippi state. And by that same token, No-neck Mullen and missiissippi state are pieces of shit for allowing him (and his compatriot) to stay on the team.

Yep. Has been well known that Lewis has taken money. And the ncaa does nothing.

Your article states that his immunity if not immune from infractions at miss st. My question for ncaa is if the guy admits to taking money from a school (particularly the one he is currently a part of) why isn't his eligibility instantly revoked?

How the NCAA's investigation into Ole Miss trapped a Mississippi State player (SBNation)

And it’s not over yet. Lewis has been requested by the COI to appear at Ole Miss’ Committee on Infractions (COI) hearing on September 11. If Lewis ends up attending, his comments will shape not just the future of two SEC programs, but possibly Lewis’ entire football career.

If Lewis doesn’t attend, he could lose immunity and his college career. If he does, he could further implicate his current program. And even if Lewis speaks to the COI, he could still lose his conditional immunity — and his eligibility — if the committee decides he hasn’t been truthful or cooperative.

How did Lewis get here, and more importantly, how does he get out?

The final chapter of the NCAA’s case vs. Ole Miss is being monitored across coaching circles today, especially among SEC staffs concerned with what kind of impact disputed comments by a rival program’s player will have on Ole Miss.

“No one shed a tear about Hugh Freeze. It’s an unfortunate situation for his players, but it wasn’t a shock to anyone in our community that they were investigated,” one SEC assistant said. “What is scary is how an active rival team’s player is being used in the investigation. This is something that we’d like to see some transparency and detail on the NCAA’s part after it’s over.”

An SEC head coach agreed, telling SB Nation:

“I think everyone is watching right now. What’s interesting, and potentially very dangerous, is the concept of weaponizing a school’s wins or losses in recruiting. That if we go toe-to-toe with a rival school and lose out on the kid clean, that school can then have them talk to the NCAA about his recruitment from us and make statements without support.”

Most of the story that is "breaking" on Lewis and Miss St was penned by an Ole Miss alum I believe. It is basically a rehashing of the response Ole Miss gave to the COI. The committee has already stated that they found no substantial evidence that Lewis received money from Miss St. If Ole Miss continues to try and use this argument, the NCAA will hammer them even harder. Furthermore, if the Lewis testimony is thrown out - which it won't be because the NCAA has already stated they found his statements backs up what they already knew - Ole Miss still has so many Level 1 violations one less isn't going to matter.

I obviously don't know if Lewis received money from Miss St. But the NCAA doesn't need Lewis to make their case against Ole Miss.

The disgust with ole miss is self-evident. There's a further disgust from me toward miss state and the ncaa.

None of this is new. Fat Phil Fulmer ratted out alabama for a player from Memphis (a big time DL recruit, who fizzled, and whose name escapes me- Albert Means maybe?) and other "rival" programs have ratted on each other for years. "If you ain't cheatin, you ain't tryin" can also be said as, "if you ain't tattlin, you ain't trying."

I have zero sympathy for somebody like lewis. He took money (and a lot of it), from multiple schools, and should never be able to play college football again.

Florida suspends two more players indefinitely - starting RB, Jordan Scarlett, and reserve WR Rick Wells. New information tied both to the misuse of school funds incident. A total of ten players are suspended for the Michigan game.

Rumor is that there's MORE suspensions on the way beyond these last two.

Would you expect anything more from an Alabama fan?

Hawaiians and Alaskans complain that most "mainlanders" that visit their states routinely make comments about "when I/we get back to the states". It's not unique to Alabama fans.

Years ago New Yorker magazine published a map of the USA as though of by New Yorkers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/View_of_the_World_from_9th_Avenue

Although the illustration was drawn in 1976. New Yorkers concept of the USA didn't include Hawaii or Alaska or 44 others states.

Brooklynites were stunned to learn there were 49 other states.

That's more on the side of arrogance rather than stupidity. Nevertheless, very interesting.

There's Bama, Georgia and....

Tennessee beat previously 0-4 UMass by 4 points. Last week, Florida beat Tenn last week by 1 point on a last second Hail Mary. The Gators this week beat Kentucky by 1 on a last minute score. All three are just a bit better than UMass. Saturday, also, South Carolina beat LaTech by one point.

Missouri is a punching bag, whose only win is over a FCS school, and who lost by 32 to Purdue. Missouri's Scoring Defense is 110th nationally - tied with Arkansas - and their Scoring Offense is 125th (FBS opponents only). Who can tell about Auburn with their 37 pt win over Missouri? Auburn lost to Clemson by eight points.

Arkansas, who lost to TCU by 21 and scored only 7 pts, lost in OT to A&M - but scored 43 pts against A&M. Aggies have allowed 87 pts to two P5 schools.

LSU beat Syracuse by 9. Syracuse had lost to Middle Tenn by 7.

Vandy and Miss St - both previously 3-0 - got creamed by Alabama and Georgia. MSU (#17) lost by 28 to a team that beat ND by 1.

How are we not ranked?

Yes it was Means. I remember because the booster was from Memphis.

Just had to share what a co-worker (an LSU fan) posted on Facebook!!

Members of CFST,
While the entire world is aware that LSU lost to Troy IN Death Valley on a Saturday night, there are a few things I would like to stop and recognize. First off, our team/staff is absolutely terrible this year. I said before the Troy game that if LSU won, it would be a very close game. Was definitely worried. I do not think we will win another game all year except possibly Ole Miss, but this will still be a challenge.
Secondly, I would like to point out that the only reason you are all chuckling it up and poking fun, which btw we have no problem with, is that you are all quite shocked. The reason you are shocked? Because nobody, not Alabama, not Notre Dame, not Georgia, certainly never Nebraska, nobody has as high a winning percentage against non conference opponents as LSU. We were 49-0 against non conference teams at home and it had been 15 years since we lost to a non conference opponent in the regular season. When is the last time your teams dropped one against non conference opponent and no Bama fans, waking up next to your naked sister does not count.
Lastly, we are always LSU fans and we are just better. Regardless of a shitty season now and then, we aren't going to go bandwagon to another team or start claiming we are from somewhere we're not and will continue sporting our purple and gold year round. We are better fans than all of you with better history, better culture, better looking people, and have a better time. So don't hate, just recognize that your ridicule has no effect on us and is nothing more than a manifestation of your jealousy and shock that such a titan as LSU can be beat by an inferior program. GEAUX Tigers!!
