Did Florida have the "goods" on Freeze or just disapproved of his actions? For instance, Nd doesn't have to have "the goods" on a HC (ex: Chip Kelly) to eliminate him from consideration. I'm confident that if Florida or any other school had evidence of violations, it would've been reported ASAP. UF likely made a character judgement IMO.

But you're right about this being far from over.

Agree. I think Fla's decision to pass was strictly character related at the time.

i wonder what the goods on freeze or his character?

I am surely not on the inside of anything. But the rumors on Freeze have been out there for a good while. I wouldn't be so quick to jump on Paul F because of his past defense of Freeze however. Finebaum isn't going to put something like that out there if he has no proof. While we can discus rumors, innuendo, etc. without fear of reprisal, people like Finebaum can't.

Yes friend but what I'm saying is if you heard rumors then why in ^%$# would Finebaum defend this guy for 2 years the way he has-it makes no sense other than trying to put a falseface on a pig to cover up the mud on its face. I mean if rumors were out there surely Finebaum with all his insider info heard something or he (Finebaum) comes off like either a dope or a creep for the entire conference. I believe you about rumors but if I heard rumors then surely on a national tv show I wouldn't back this guy the way he has----it smacks of cover up. For the Jerry Springer of college football this is really a total embarrassment. Freeze is gone never to be coaching again except at some high school somewhere but the bigger question is about honesty, integrity, with these guys who speak for a school or conference. This really needs to be addressed because it affects football which people like Finebaum have helped turn into semi pro, win at all cost, damn the education process, make $$$$ for me and the coaches, non college football. Talk about tip of the iceberg this is way more deep than Hugh Freeze and escorts. Your looking at a very real, very large problem here that shakes the very fiber of college football. I can not and will not think that if rumors were out there then Finebaum must have heard hose same rumors.

There are/were rumors going all the way back to Freeze's days as a high school HC coach. Those rumors were there long before Freeze became the coach at Ole Miss. But there hasn't been a single person come forth to substantiate those rumors. I don't listen to Finebaum but on a rare occasion so I can't really speak to what or how he defended Freeze. I have a hard time believing any member of the national media, including Finebaum, wouldn't jump on a sensational story - if there are enough facts to back it up.

Excuse my ignorance...what is a burner phone?

a cheap phone with no contract you can use and then throw away. minutes are paid up front so no bills required. generally used in drug deals and such things haha

Oh I see...a drug and/or crack whore ordering device. Thank you sir. Hugh must have been a regular with the skanks. Probably a good idea to visit the local clinic.

Word on the streets is if hoes are involved then what you really need is a trap phone, totally different from a burner...

The NCAA sent their response to Ole Miss last Friday regarding Ole Miss' defense of the 21 infractions. Ole Miss should be releasing it soon.

The latest from "Rose Bowl" Steve Robinson.

quote:

"I suspect that there’s going to be some stories possibly to come later this week, if not this week, certainly next week, that might make a lot of people uncomfortable.”

quote:

“Well, the fact that it’s probably some behavior that has gone on for some time, even dating back before his time at Ole Miss,” Robertson answered

Place your best now, punishment wise Ole Miss gets from the NCAA in comparison to what ND got for the 'frozen five' fiasco:

-worse than ND got
-roughly the same ND got
-less than what ND got

The whole high school rumors have been out there for a while. With nobody ever coming forward publically with allegations, it's hard for me to believe most of the rumors at this point. If I were guessing I would say the phone calls may be traced back to providing escorts for recruits even before Freeze came to town. So much being thrown around right now so who really knows.

Much worse. Ole Miss is about to get savaged by the NCAA.

I like his proposal for 10 conference games and expanding the playoffs as well. Sadly, I don't think either has a chance of gaining much traction.

I still say nix the playoff entirely... go back to the pre BCS bowl system... if a playoff game or title game is needed because the final poll is not self evident, then play it. Use a playoff for what it was originally used for, not just because 'we gots da hav it"... yes, I know that's complete fantasy but there you have it.

Dozens of programs would fold without the money from those games.

I agree that small and mid-level programs would struggle to stay afloat. Wish there was some way for the wealth to be spread around without having to suffer through those 52-0 type games.

If their survival hinges on those games, then they shouldn't have a program or at least drop down another level. There's plenty of "cupcakes" to be found in the FBS....no excuse to be scheduling an FCS school...especially late in the year when injuries have taken a toll on a 67-scholarship squad.

The programs wouldn't fold but title 9 would have to be over turned... The programs use their football money to fund a ton of those lesser sports... Without the big pay day of Miami of Ohio going to U of M, most likely they couldn't afford to keep their womens field hockey afloat. Getting rid of football isn't the solution because that would just cause more strain on those other sports IMO

So what's going on with Alabama's recruiting? Right now they're ranked 46th behind Houston and Colorado. Is it just a weird cycle or are they expecting to close late with a ton of guys?
