Chubler, your post makes a lot of sense but I think these guys are jumping because people are filling their heads with Saban to Texas.

No surprise with Roberts. There was a lot of talk about him flipping to Auburn for the last month or two. Landing Humphrey should soften that blow.

Every school has a recruit or two change their mind and commit to a different school. We've had several the past few years, and some ended up changing their minds again and eventually signing with us after all. Viane wanted to play near home so his family could attend games, and Roberts has been about 50/50 between Bama & Auburn the entire time, so him flipping was not a huge surprise, nor will it be if he changes his mind again before NSD.

I 100% agree. . Just said it was the first I remember this happening in sabans era. .. the man chubler was pointing out a trend that has happened. . These two were flight risked from start. . Just saying that isn't typical

I personally hope this is the case, I don't think Alabama's money-drenched (legitimately or not is irrelevant), win-at-all-costs approach is good for college football. Neither is the way they've dominated recently (except for Bama fans haha). Someone needs to beat them this year, because I don't think they'll even win their division next year. They've got the ideal QB for their gameplan in McCarron, and once he's gone I think they'll struggle (by their standards of course). Fail to win the NC two years in a row and they look like a program on the decline, which speaks to how successful they've been recently.

What goes up must come down. Alabama won't be #1 forever. But are they any more money-drenched, win-at-all-costs than most other top programs these days? I don't really see it. They're just better at consistently winning big games.
Root against them if you want, but toppling Alabama won't fix what ails college football. Someone just as "bad" or worse (Ohio State? Oregon? FSU? Some other SEC school?) will just take their place atop the heap.

I don't recall two in one week either, but overall the class seems as stable as any previous ones, if not more so. If several more flip in the near future I'll worry, but this doesn't seem like a big deal at this point or anything other than what we see every recruiting cycle.

Just heard on Dan Patrick........AJ McCarren is on the cover of SI. A reporter asked Saban about McCarren being on the cover. Saban replies that he doesn't know anything about it.

I call bullsh!t.

You're right-- of course he knows about it.

But to be honest, that answer may have just been his way of not wanting to talk about it.

I've seen the presser where the reporter asked Saban about it. He said that he wasn't sure what they were even asking about. Of course he knew. It was just typical Saban not wanting to discuss anything not directly related to the upcoming game.

I liked his comment (after the McCarron question) "I don't read magazines, I haven't seen a newspaper today. I have no idea what's going on in the world. I watch the weather channel for 10 minutes over coffee in the morning to see if we will practice inside or outside, that's it."

What a cutthroat SOB. Doesn't even hide it. Good for him.

The Football Braniacs reporting Saban to Texas is a done deal. They have been called out a bunch on twitter but stand by their sources.

Thats the typical thing at big programs. The replacement is already done before the "retiring" coach is told he is retiring.

Crazy... there have been a LOT of very emphatic insiders saying Texas was going to get Saban for something like $10 mil/year... someone linked an article on here awhile ago that spelled out the Texas hiring process and it seems to be 100% accurate.

This is going to seriously shake things up. Good thing we play Texas in the coming years!

DaShawn hand back to Michigan? Kirby Smart to HC? How much of the staff goes with Saban? What kind of dominos are going to fall here....

Yeah. They said the deal was bookoo money. I believe they are Oklahoma guys who confirmed with at least two respected sources so far.

the Cowherd tweet is interesting because it could be anything.

The guys who broke the news RT'd it. Honestly though there is not much in the sports world that would be more world shattering than that right now.

I'm intrigued but showing skepticism for now. That will fly out the window if I hear that Mack Brown has been fired.
