"[Saban's] a winner, he just does what he wants to do," says Lee Allen, an Alabama fan from Decatur. "He's kind of like Hitler. He's a dictator. He brought us back to the top and I figure we're going to be here for a while. Money well spent."

Wait, what? Hitler? You mean that as a compliment? "Yeah," Allen says in between discreetly spitting tobacco juice into a water bottle in the lobby.

Hahah wow, just wow, how can that guy say that, he HAS to know what Hitler did right, or is that to big of an assumption. Holy crap I sure hope this is not an accurate representation of the "Southern" education system.

He should have said Mussolini, and it would have been a better analogy: "At least the trains are running on time..."

If someone stated that Ray Lewis is like Ghengis Khan out there. He just gets everyone riled up and they just pillage and destroy, I would not be too offended! Imposing order through strict discipline and a cult of personality is not very scary in the context of college football. Nation-states, yes.

People should listen to Finebaum to get a sense that the average Alabama fan has a decent sense of irony when it comes to their over-the-top behavior. They know their fandom is crazy and they enjoy the humor the excess.

As far as modern education, all you need to know is Hitler and pollution = bad; whales and diversity = good. Looks like its back to school for that guy.

I don't understand why Hitler is such a bad person to be compared to. He was Time Magazine's "Man of the Year" for crying out loud.

This mother f'er is employed by ESPN now and will be a part of their college football coverage now. Seriously

Let's be real...

Hitler could be their coach and their fans would only care if he didn't win bawl games...

How dare he.... spitting indoors. Has he no manners?

I'll admit that every fanbase has their crazy fans, no one is excluded, but part of me wonders if this guy wasn't trolling. It's bad enough that Saban gets referred to as the devil on a regular basis, but now he's being labeled as the devil's right hand man?

This guy's been getting slaughtered on the Bama boards for saying something that stupid. The journalist who wrote the story has been getting criticized pretty heavily too for ignoring the hundreds of normal fans and just focusing on the biggest hick and idiot in the crowd and presenting him as a typical representative of the fanbase when he's far from it.

I think you're absolutely correct. Is our fanbase over the top sometimes? Of course. Are we aware of it, see the humor in it, and play to the crowd occasionally? Absolutely.

Hey, if you don't think Saban would mobilize his students to annex Auburn, AL, to rid himself of a pesky competitor, you are just being the NCAA version of Neville Chamberlain!

So true. This was obviously supposed to be a local puff piece to pass the time before kickoff, and the author grabbed some low hanging fruit to get more clicks.

Agree with that but it does appear we have oversigned in the crazy fan department. Maybe not a good analogy on the fan's part but at least his high school history teacher is proud he paid a little attention in class.

Well ... the SS was an abbreviation for Shutzstaffel which translated into English means "Protection Squadron".

Ironically the same guys who defend Saban today from his detractors, used the same language as todays detractors do when they complained about Saban when he was at LSU.

This is the only Bama central thread I could find so yeah:

“@Tide_Source: Alabama freshman DL Darius Paige has been medically disqualified, Nick Saban says.

“@Darius_Paige: Being leftout is the worst feeling ever!! :(

“@Darius_Paige: Nobody deserves to be treated like an option”

Sounds suspect....

There is a difference in not passing a physical/being out of shape and having a medical problem that will preclude a player from EVER playing again. I am not a huge fan of negative recruiting, but this should be an example to people who have both ND and Bama on their lists of what we have to offer over them. Do you really think this kid feels good about being thrown out? His twitter says no. Do you think he actually cares about the education of Alabama? Heck no! He will transfer, and be cleared to play. He just didn't hack it there, so Saban was a major douche nozzle to him. IF he doesn't go elsewhere and he EVER plays a down of football for Bama I think you could hear people crying foul and insisting upon investigations. This madness has got to stop. Kids are being abused.

We live in an age where information is impossible to ignore. Anybody who goes there deserves the inherent risk associated with it.
