I just signed up for the Tijuana Flats Super You! 5k on April 3rd in Orlando. $15 for students (includes: race, tshirt, taco, & beer) crazy good deal.
I started cough to 5K in July. About half way I figured there is no way I'd ever be able to run for 3.1 miles. Now I am running 2 5k's a week and 5 miles on Sunday. Today, to mix it up a bit, wee did a four mile trail run. Wow! That was definitely the hardest one yet. But, dammit, I did it.
Your weekly regimen is what I'd like to eventually work up to. I'd like to run some of the local 5k's also. I started last summer running 3 miles a day but it was just to much to start with and balancing 3 kids and a family too. I think I can get 3 times a week in.
I wish I had better endurance. I can lift weights like a mad man for 2 hours in a row, but put me on a treadmill and I'm gassed after a mile. I ran 4 miles in a row the other day on the treadmill (8:00 pace), and my legs and lower back were cramping up like crazy, it was probably the most grueling thing I've done exercise-wise since high school. I can start and end a workout with a mile on the treadmill, but beyond that, running is just not for me unfortunately.
I've got three kids, too, so I know how you feel about squeezing the runs in. And the most important thing I've learned is not to be too hard on yourself. I have great runs and then all of a sudden I have a terrible one. IDK what the difference is but I repeated some weeks of couch to 5 k if I didn't think I was there yet. I had to remind myself that these things are not really races, to me. Just attempts to finish. I feel much better than a year ago, though. And I've lost 18 pounds.
Treadmill running is even harder. You don't have the same gait on there as you would running outside. And you don't have the same acceleration or push off with your back foot like you do running outside. I have a treadmill I got for my birthday for days when it is just too cold and I can't run at a pace on it like I can outside.
I may not have created this thread, but I'm sure as sh*t going to keep it going.
Tampa Gasparilla Half Marathon today.

Maybe you saw my twin sister, though I hope she was taking it easy in light of the surgeries she's had to her knees in the last decade or two.
Here's a picture of what she wore:

She usually takes a pic of her outfit spread out on a bed (she calls them "Flat Gina") for races with themes.
She may have been easy to "overlook" since she's only about 4'9". We've each lost an inch to shrinkage since our peak at 20 or so.
This is from last year but running the six races at Walt Disney World is called the "Dopey Challenge" and gets you these bad boys:Soooooooooooo, Sean Astin... (Rudy, Mikey from Goonies, Samwise) is apparently a big runner.
In the past 10/11 days has run:
Disney Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, 5k
Disney Star Wars Half Marathon, 10k and 5k
That's 71 miles folks.
I saw him out in Anaheim while I was doing the Star Wars Half and 10k, but good Lord I couldn't imagine doing another 5k, let alone the full.
Simply incredible.
Does anyone have a good stretching routine?
I just ran for the first time since knee surgery. I've got a looooooong way to go.
Running my first marathon this weekend in Chicago, a little nervous about it but still hoping to about 4 hours.. My IT band and knee has been killing me.. Looking for any tips, superstitions, rituals etc for any of you who have done one. Also, any sure fire IT band stretches, not using a roller! Thanks!
Use the foam roller for IT bands.. Its a life saver
