Not really defending anything, but I can see the argument allowing this: so if they get cleared and thrown into a game, they won't get hurt because they're out of condition. They may blow the game because they missed practice and didn't get reps or understand the gameplan, but they won't get hurt because they hadn't stayed fit.

Strength and conditioning coaches are always exempt from "no contact" time, aren't they?

Is anyone familiar with what EG went through? It's odd that there were never any drawn out "holding periods" before he was suspended. Or maybe there were but there hadn't been a press conference two weeks prior to put everyone on notice?

When the real news comes out could we start a new thread? Just so we don't keep coming back to this god-foresaken thread to see if something is new. BTW...what do you think about how ND has been handling this and what do you think of the process?

I don't care to slog through any more of this shyte. I'll read it but not slog. So...

If it's already been posited, have patience and forgive me, but I'd appreciate a separate thread dedicated to "hard" news. No rumors, suppositions, speculation or recriminations. Just actual, verifiable and accurate new.

Let this thread stand, if for no other reason than for the entertaining theories and tit-for-tats. Mayhap something along the lines of Academic Violations (Solid) News. I'd read both but would not open "Rumored Violations" unless I had an hour or two to kill.

Honestly don't blame these kids one bit if they decide not to come back even if some are cleared. Absolute joke by ND administration. Almost want BK to bolt for the NFL at this point.

Players don't have any choice. They're all coming back if they're cleared, they're all draft-eligible. They won't transfer and sit out a year and they won't take any "stand" to prove a point and kill their draft stock. NFL wants guys who are football-first.

I just don't understand how ND, when it has hinted that they will vacate wins (despite it not being necessary), would allow "contact" with a coach, despite them being suspended from all team related activities. Maybe it's just another head scratcher in this entire sordid tale.

My take on this and the other BK quotes is that 1.) he is showing frustration with the process publicly for the first time and 2.) He is throwing it back at the admin in regards to clearing the players tomorrow. IE, if they get cleared after Michigan, the fans will be asking why they weren't cleared earlier, especially considering BK's "quickly" comment.

IF all,or some, of the players are cleared tomorrow, there will be a public relations backlash from many skeptics, mostly those who do not like ND anyway. With fan, parental, alumni, student, donor pressure, coupled with the pronouncement by the coach that the players "will play", it would seem like a capitulation by the administration done solely for the purposes of appeasement and clearance for the rivalry game. Right or wrong, full investigation or not, that will be the appearance. Perception drives reality.

That said, I hope any and all players cleared tomorrow get to participate in the UM thumping.

I talk to 'huge cfb fans' often enough to believe the 'average fan' is FAR less tuned in than the average IE'er... that may sound pompous but I believe it's true... my experience typically the average fan knows nothing of recruiting, is clearly regurgitating Cowheard or some other sensationalist... and isn't aware of any finer points.

A report is just coming out that they started the Winston alleged rape allegation investigation (required by Title IX) this August. December 2012 until August 2014! Ours has only been 3 weeks - lol.

Whatever his title actually is, he has a position with the team under the oversight of the ncaa. He's an official staff member. Paul Longo can't loan kids money, give them rides, or contact recruits during dead periods.
