ND Football will always be a cash cow. It's synonymous with the university, and although some would hope it doesn't overshadow the university's academic prowess, the truth is when most of the populous sees anything Notre Dame, many think football. They think Rockne, Rocket, Lou Holtz, Ara Parseghian, and unfortunately as of late they also think Manti and catfish, the whoopin' we took against Alabama, and Golson. Now add one more major negative to the list.
Only the kids can reverse the tide, but the athletic program at Notre Dame will always be premier and important.
If the administration vacates wins, that definitely sucks. BUT, it also shows the world that though ND isn't immune from the bullshit related to college athletes, they at least try to handle things the right way, right away.
It may be a little "Opus Dei" self-inflicted to the point of "Wow!," but Notre Dame still leads. They don't follow.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Clemson, Auburn, Michigan, Southern Cal, etc.
