I'm with you...I shouldn't have been that naïve to believe what was stated in the presser/statement was fact...

So, did Father Jenkins just lie to us about BK knowing?

No. Just a few posters talking out of their ass trying to act like they know more than they actually do. I'm sure he was aware of the report on the 29th but not about them having to sit out until last night.

/vent on

if they were cheating....someone needs to get fucked up. this is bullshit

/vent off

OH, don't worry, A TON of ND fans are going to get fucked up tonight.

NDWorld: I hope my post didn't come off as a shot at you - it was more of a "no way did that happen; Swarbrick is lying if he said that"...

My guess is Kelly found out that a complaint was filed on the July 29th but didn't find out till yesterday that the needed to hold them out of practice.

That would make more sense. I didn't see the presser but from what I have read here, Jack informed him yesterday to hold them out. I have to think he knew shortly after the allegations came in.

Pardon me if this has been discussed (I'm just now trying to catch up) but can anyone clarify if this could result in ND vacating past wins?

We might be. Which makes absolutely no sense as there is no grounds to.

BK knew about a potential investigation before today but he was only just informed about the specific players today is what I've been told. At least that's how I understand it.

Are we at the point yet where the "best case scenario" is losing the players mentioned?

Sirius radio ESPN just quoted campusinsiders and said they are sticking by their story that said 22 current and former players are being investigated.

I think you mean former and current students not just limited to football team members

IMO yes (for this season at a minimum)

You seem to know the most about this. You really think the best case scenario is those 4 are expelled and nothing more? As in you basically think there's no chance they play for ND again?

I would be shocked if they played for us this season.

Is the voulentary vacating of wins supposed to take the place of voulentary bowl ban? I mean I know it's better to look to the future but the fact that there is a good possibility that some of my favorite ND memories are going to be erased from the record books just kinda sucks.

No. Swarbrick said, at the presser, that at this point there are just allegations. Holding the players out of practice is just a precaution, in case they are found to be ineligible.

So no chance that KVR's involvement here is tangential, and that he'll get a slap on the wrist?

I don't know the Honor Code or precedent well enough but I highly doubt he just gets a slap on the wrist. I think the penalty will be a semester at a minimum and unfortunately this got out now rather than in 2012 when it actually happened.

I doubt anyone at the University, or on here for that matter, cares a rats ass about your feelers, Rudy. So stuff it, already. This isn't about you, so quit crying about everything that YOU stand to lose.

Just my opinion and I obviously know less than you, but I think that's extreme. Like Jimmy said, this might be their first offense (Golson had 2, right?). Besides DD obviously.

Depends what gets proven/admitted to I guess. I know the rumors you heard were worse than simply cheating on a paper, but who knows how much of that gets proven.

A bowl ban is not even close to in play.

Unless higher ups were purposely playing ineligible people and covering it up, this doesn't even come into the realm of NCAA sanctions. At all.

Us vacating wins is saying "we now know we played players who should've been ineligible, so we're going to vacate these"...... even this is going WAY above and beyond.

For example, there were a bunch of SEC players recently found to have taken benefits from an agent. All of them would be retroactively ineligible. None of the teams went back and vacated wins.

Are there many on the BoT that want Kelly gone? If he was not notified until yesterday it appears to me at least that at least some aren't real interested in working with Kelly. Gotta think they had to tell him earlier than what they stated however.

Tommy, unlike OSU, PSU, and most other schools, at ND neither the football coach or any coach for that matter decides Academic, Honor Code, or Student Conduct issues.

They don't even get to testify in Academic, Honor Code, or Student Conduct hearings.

Read the ND Press Release I posted. President Jenkins stressed this was an academic/integrity issued. The school found out on 7/29 and initiated an investigation by the Office of General Counsel NOT by the football coach nor the AD.

Unlike UA Head Coach Gene Stallings and the AD aren't conducting the investigation. This isn't tOSU President Gee joking about being terminated by the football coach. It's not PSU ... or Miami.

It's a University student matter and is being handled that way as is the custom.

I know, that's why I prefaced with that.

I just think it's early to think to predict best case scenario is they're all done for the year. JMO.

They might prove cheating, suspect 'extras', but who knows if that ever gets proven and/or admitted to.

Not sure why anyone thinks this goes back to 2012.

Both Jenkins and Swarbrick refused to comment on how far back the allegations might go, at the presser. So at this point, any dates would seem to be pretty speculative.

Because gkIrish said so and he knows more about this then anyone.

Nothing against gk, but he can either spill what he knows, or we can deal in the facts that are known. As of this point, the only answer to a timeline is that the report of possible academic impropriety was made on July 29th, 2014.
