I disagree.

Considering the UNC fiasco, and ND's own record of dealing with transgressions, I would expect ND to self report and take stiff action IF THE RUMORED papers for sex with a tutor is true. I would expect them all to be out of school and ND offering a scholarship or two reduction. I'd also expect that after a semester they would be eligible to apply for re-admission.

ND has no experience with vacating games. Opponents (USC) has but ND has not. Personally vacating games is B.S. IF you had an ineligible player that you should forfeit the game that was the way in was done in college sports for over 100 years.

so basically this is every year anyways..just no more walk ons to give them to

I disagree.

Dunbar was serial groupie that dated players over a couple of years something like the Susan Sarandon character in Bull Durham. She lavished gifts on several of them and had a baby with one. BUT she was NOT an employee of the university. Holtz had an investigation and found no NCAA violation. BUT the NCAA came to a landmark decision finding her a "booster" because she was a member of the QB Club and paid 10 or 25 bucks to defray the cost of QB Club mailings. The nominal mailing charge was the key factor in declaring her a booster. ND lost two scholarships and went on NCAA probation.

A tutor in the ND tutoring program is an employee and it would be an NCAA Infraction. The actual sex part is a ND parietal/du Lac issue not NCAA. The academic fraud and bartering for such with an employee would raise the dreaded Lack of Institutional Control issue.

Half a dozen of Ara's players were suspended for pulling a train with a consenting coed. NOT an NCAA infraction but Ted/Res Life invited them to spend a semester away from ND.They were readmitted and went on to play football in subsequent years.

Around '98 or '99 backup QB Eric Chappell was found to have had a female tutor write one of more papers for him in exchange for player comp tickets which if I recall correctly he told her she could sell. I've used player comp tickets. There's a detailed I.D./Sign-in Procedure to preclude abuse of those tickets. The players are counseled about the uses and abuse of comp tickets. It was an accident. ND self reported that issue. It was a minor NCAA infraction but if I recall correctly both Chappell and the tutor got to finish their education at a different school at ND's direction.

Elam and 3 others were accused of rape/sexual battery. They claimed it was consensual. She didn't. Only oneperson actually went to trial and was convicted of a lesser charge. The D.A. then dropped the prosecutions of the other 3. Nonetheless, ND expelled all 4. One or two were a couple of weeks from graduation when tossed. There were No NCAA Infractions but expulsions nonetheless.

Considering the UNC fiasco, and ND's own record of dealing with transgressions, I would expect ND to self report and take stiff action IF THE RUMORED papers for sex with a tutor is true. No big deal.....not like they we have been 85 each year.

Then prepare for Duke results. CFB is dirty and cutthroat. Values aren't rewarded today. I might be getting too negative. But college football isn't made for Notre Dame if this is how we want to operate. Kids today, and their parents for that matter, don't give a shit about values. It's all talk.

110% agree. Problem is that most people just really dont give a flop. I live in the south where the players are lucky to be able to write their names and the people just care the wins and the football factories...er Universities just care about the $$$.

But ND...no chance in its current state and the current state of CFB.

I disagree.

First, thanks for the history lesson. It's good to have you back.

Second, perhaps "almost the exact same scenario" wasn't an accurate description; I agree that the legalities here will be significantly different due to the tutor's status as an ND employee, and the alleged academic fraud.

I'm just struck by the similarity of the narratives. 21 years ago, ND gets hit with its first and only major NCAA infraction when a groupie exchanged gifts and money for sex with ND players. Today, ND may be dealing with its 2nd major infraction because a different groupie exchanged papers for sex with ND players.

I can't dunk a basketball either.

Me neither.

I actually think this will help recruiting. "Come to ND where girls will do your HW. But wait, there's more! They'll actually only do it if you bang them! Be smart about it and don't get caught".

So are we saying that a student with a tutor job is the same as a University Employee? I understand how all the lawyers on here (and in the NCAA) would say "absolutely" with a fair amount of righteous indignation but from a practical perspective, imo, a student is still a student.

Now if it's some 65 year old lady telling them it's time to pay the rent, that's a whole 'nuther ballgame.

When an ND student gets a job on-campus, they have to fill out paperwork that pretty clearly puts them in an Employer-Employee relationship with the University. Now, the kids washing dishes in NDH or tutoring athletes occupy arguably the lowest rung of university employment, which will be relevant in any discussion regarding the severity of this alleged violation, but there's no debate that tutors are University employees.

So there will be repercussions for the girl, correct? I mean, she has to receive some sort of punishment? Kicked out of school, levy a fine against her for institutional damage, etc?

This is what I get for thinking earlier last week, "this has finally been a normal off-season".

It's awful to admit this, but I am seriously battling to some hatred for this young woman. I should be angrier at the players for allowing themselves to get caught up in something like this but the fact that she did this and then decided to bring it forward pisses me off to no end.

Scout poster said the female came forward. Fwiw I can't say if he knows his stuff 100%. I will say O'Malley said there was a rumor back in January that seems to be resurfacing and would not be good. He's working on it.

This just goes to prove there are two facts of life.

Drugs are bad and girls are the devil.

National 7.5
ND 8

Very strange. Every now and then the local news will run a story on a high school teacher who got fired for banging one of her students. The teacher is frequently a dime. Makes you wonder how damaged she is that she has to resort to such a thing.

Must be a status thing. An "ND 8" would have no problem finding willing partners on campus generally. But there are always a group of jersey chasers that would do anything to get with certain athletes, if only for the prestige associated with him.

NCAA will punt when they find out she gave the KVRs paper to Ishaq who then had sex with Daniels in order for him to hand the paper off to KVR. Granted they were all naked in a back alley but in terms of the NCAA, no violation.
