...you don't have to be a fight person to know this was coming at some point. Its the Buster Douglass issue. A person can be a born mismatch, and then on top of that catch you off, and they themselves put together a perfect sequence, and lights out.

The schadenfreude is pretty epic.

Ronda Rousey says she considered suicide after loss to Holly Holm

My first thought is: Really? You get knocked out one time and your first thought is that you should just end it because you feel useless now?

My second thought is: I don't know what she's dealing with or what she has going on besides fighting, but maybe she just cares that much about being the best?

I don't know. It just seems excessive and dramatic on the surface. You can't handle one loss? My first thought would have been "damn that sucked" followed by "revenge."

But then I think that maybe I'm being a dick, and that I shouldn't judge her for her thoughts of suicide.

What say you all?

Just read about this. I think the fact that she's never faced that kind of adversity/loss before, because she was so dominant, her immediate fall from grace was just too much for her all at once. The only idea of her escaping the feeling of it was to end it. Sure on the surface it seems dramatic and selfish, but its sort of like a billionaire all of a sudden going broke overnight. Being the best in the business to getting humiliated just like that.

Right, but I think my hang-up is that being a millionaire, you don't expect the possibility that you go broke over night.

Being a fighter, you KNOW that all it takes is one shot and it's curtains. Even though she probably didn't expect it to happen, it's still a very real possibility.

I can see how it would be tough to deal with that type of adversity when you aren't accustomed to it... but fighting, as a profession, is full of different types of adversity, no matter what your record says. So I just have trouble buying it.

If she is thinking this just because she lost one fight,,, then she needs to do at least one of the following...

A. Grow a sack
B. Seek professional help

Rocky didn't quit after his first fight with Apollo.. Ali didn't quit in 71...

If she has other issues, prayers to her.

Who would actually want to fight her now? I mean, how do you get into the ring with someone who publicly stated they considered killing themselves after losing a fight? Talk about a mindfuck.

I feel bad for her but I am also starting to lose a lot of respect.

If this is true, keep it to yourself and your family/friends. Why come out and talk about it on the Ellen DeGeneres Show if for any other reason than to gain sympathy.

I don't know, it rubs me the wrong way.

She's a bronze medalist in judo, which means she lost at something she spent her whole life training for. How did that not prepare her to handle losing in the UFC?

This whole spectacle has turned into a shit show so fast. She should do the Hollywood thing and make a decent living by appearing in low budget movies. No chance she beats Holly, and if she cant handle not being the superstar, she should not come back. All that awaits her in a rematch is brain damage and heartache.

Decent piece on Mike and Mike right now. Father committed suicide and depression runs in the family. This is probably about more than just a loss.

I would think the mma or who ever regulates the fights need to sit down and determine if she is able to fight anymore.

Agree. She took one hell of a shot to the head. She could still be dealing with affects...and believe it or not the mild traumatic brain injuries (ie she didn't get a fractured skull) are the dangerous ones with athletes because they think all they need to do is rest their body. Depression is certainly a symptom of TBI...She may or may not have a genetic pre-disposition to depression, but that can't help either.

She seems headed for trouble...

LOL at this video. Rousey misunderstands the question from Golic = comedy gold.

Certainly a poorly worded question from Golic but Ronda got extremely defensive right away.

I love Golic despite his brain not working. To be fair to Ronda, he did ask her if she could go back in time. She was kind of a bitch about it though.
