Who's going to be in tailgating? What lot and when? Wouldn't mind putting a face to the names and tip a few.

Will definitely be tailgating, but as a guest and not at my own. PM me if you find others willing to meet up for a beer.

Speaking of tailgating, I'll be getting to the stadium around 9am. I don't have a parking pass, which blows. Any advice as to where I should try to park to have the best experience. Since this is my 58748572890 time to ND I don't want to walk around for 7 hours. Even though I've been there a lot, I've never really tailgated. It's always been park and get to campus and walk around. I'm usually with a newbie so I do all the usual pregame stuff. I'm hearing a lot about Burke, is that drive up and pay to park or do I need a pass?

I hit the road for Chicago tomorrow. Getting into South Bend around 8AM on Saturday to set up a small little tailgate for the day. Then heading out all over campus for 2 tickets! Fingers crossed otherwise this anniversary will be about, not as much, but about as bad a the 1st one. (!st anniversary was USF...)

Texas DC Vance Bedford reveals CB starters vs. Notre Dame - Burnt Orange Nation

senior Duke Thomas will start at nickel back.

Long expected to play at the boundary or field position this season, Thomas was a somewhat surprising addition to the depth chart at nickel back on Monday listed as a co-starter with redshirt freshman John Bonney, who held down that position throughout the spring.

Listed at 178 pounds, Thomas gives up two inches and 10 pounds to Bonney, in addition to a significant amount of reach due to his shorter arms. So how Thomas is able to deal with the physical demands of the position remains a concern since he hasn't played there before and will at some point have to beat blocks on wide receiver screens and set the edge against runs headed towards the field side.

CROB, ALIZE, ESB and the last part of the sentence has WILL FULLER for the TD all over it

Texas has 4 true freshman starters on depth chart: MLB Malik Jefferson, WR John Burt, OL Connor Williams, OL Patrick Vahe. 24 frosh/RS frosh on depth chart overall.

Connor Williams and Patrick Vahe (both true FR) will start the game for the Longhorns OL. Connor Williams was a 3 star recruit at Coppell and will start at LT. He stands at only 280 lbs right now. Vahe will start at the RG spot.

But I thought board wisdom since the bowl game was run, run, run.

Until that doesn't work. Texas is going to put 8 in the box.

Until that doesn't work. This is a BK offense that has a converted receiver playing No. 2 at Rb in his first game in that role and he has a lot of appealing targets to sling it to. Does anyone believe we are going to run the ball more than 50 percent of the time? That's what we did last year and Kelly's history of play calling coupled with all those athletic pass catchers suggests to me that we pass more than run. If Bryant didn't screw up, I might think differently but too much inexperience at running back may mean we get to see what Malik's arm can do early.

Not too deep at quarterback either. How much do you want to run your QB with a player with zero experience coming into the game. I think we have the line to keep his jersey clean tossing it, but if he runs, all bets are off. Pretty big risk, no?

Agree it is a risk. But I think you will see a good amount of zone reads. And in the redzone I see a lot of QB draws. Zaire is a big tough kid, he should be able to take a hit.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I think we have the talent in place (although proven depth at some of the skill position is a question mark, until it isn't) to be explosive either way. Will learn a lot about how Kelly's mind works on Saturday maybe.

I will be in the Stadium lot. Shoot me a PM Sat morning or Fri night. Hopefully I'm sober enough to respond.

Yes behind Folston is no experience at RB. Prosise and Brent have the athletic ability but no experience, except Brent in HS. Then there is the two freshman running backs. Luckily RB is the easiest position to transition from high school to college.

Kelly has actually been very close to 50/50 run pass since coming to ND.

I think we'll play it relatively safe the first series (unless Kelly throws caution to the wind and runs go routes). We'll see some designed run plays a few quick throws to the flat, maybe a couple intermediate throws to the sidelines to keep it simple, then it'll get blown wide open.

The synergy between Kelly, Denbrock and Sanford better result in magic because we have too much damn talent to waste it on bad play calling.

Risk? Yes. Big risk? No. Malik has to be Malik out there, or him starting is pointless. One of his main strengths is running the read option and his overall mobility. There's A LOT of teams that run the risk of playing mobile QB's with little to no experience behind him. You just have to accept that this game is full of risks. We could have a pocket-passing QB and he still runs the risk of getting hurt. In addition, Malik knows how to take a hit and avoid major contact that could cause an injury.

I want play action for a TD first play

I think it's going to depend on field position to open the first series. If we start out around the 40 or better I can see BK trying to get a quick strike. If its the 30 or inside, I think you'll see some conservative plays until we get better position.
