The guy is a terrible writer. All you have to do is read his tripe and you get it about four lines in. If you don't get that, then i don't know what to tell you. We've all seen people "fail upward" in business, because of friends in the right places or circumstances or whatever. His position is NO indication of skill, not unlike many others, unfortunately...

And no, I do not want him anywhere near our helmets.

Not to stray here, but I feel the same way about Peter King. He used to be a great writer, but now it's all about how he drank this expresso in this quaint little bistro, or had this wonderful Caramel, Peruvian dry ale while waiting for the train. I'm tired of his pretentious ***.

Glad they let him do it. Even though he will write an article and make it all about himself and less about ND proving him wrong.

However, could you imagine how BAD the PR would've been if ND locked him out? Even though so many people would feel so much joy to see Reilly get shafted, an equal amount of people would've attacked ND for keeping him out.

EDIT: "Glad" is a bad word, but it's "better" than keeping him out I think. Plus, any 5 minute spot on ESPN is 5 minutes of free recruiting time.

I have to disagree about RR being a bad writer. He uses little to no facts or evidence in any of his work, his credibility isn't great, but he is one of the best at appealing to the emotions, and he's made a career out of it. Educated people with an opposing view will always be ripping on his columns because of the obvious holes in fact and logic, but RR isn't trying to be factual or logical. He's writing to stir emotions, whether it's an inspiration cancer story or one intended to stir up outrage, and he always succeeds.

@NDFBEquipment, has Rick left the Gug yet? I want to come back and hang out. Would rather not run into him and act excited to see him.

Now that the mentality of a champion!

They could have done it without much blow-back. Invite someone else to campus from ESPN instead, like Herbie. Hell, even Mark May would have been a better choice, since he was a good sport with the Leprechaun suit, etc.

Actions have consequences. I hate that ND is letting Reilly skate on that hack job he published earlier.

Touche, did not think of that angle. Tell Reilly no, invite Mark May as long as he wears the green suit. Now THAT is a win-win. Spit in Reilly's face, continue the "Mark was wrong" thing.

It's not like Reilly is a beloved figure over at ESPN. They can't wait to drop his contract.

I totally agree with you. It's not like he just said he didn't like us, he went after Notre Dame with no impetus. There should have been consequences. Now all he has gotten is a reprieve and more publicity.

If you guys are so bothered by this, why don't you:

A) Wait to see what ESPN does about it. It could be very pro-ND.

B) Email jack swarbrick about your complaints.

I think Jack has better things to do than read emails about fans bitching about who he allows on campus...

I'm sure Jack and BK put no thought into this whatsoever. We all know they make flighty and rash choices daily. And we all certainly know best...

This is the most emotional-less post I've seen on the matter. The TEAM is enjoying it, and Jack, our brilliant AD obviously thought it was a good idea along with Brian Kelly.

We better be careful though, intelligent recruits who are stud footballers might think this place is fun. What's next, a jumbotron. Geesh.

Irish I hadn't made that stupid USC bet. Cleaning helmets at Notre Dame today. Just did @MGolicJr57 #buckethead

I like that the players are there making sure he cleans theirs, lol.

First Notre Dame helmet I did belonged to @KLM_89. Good dude! (Plus, he's standing right here.) #EXTRASHINY pic.twitter.com/PNBOhQJ7
