the one thing i love about Rivals is that they compare the recruits to former players.
Here are some of ours:

Ronald Darby - DeAngelo Hall, Washington Redskins CB
Deontay Greenberry - Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals WR
Jarron Jones - John Henderson, Oakland Raiders DT
William Mahone - Rashard Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers RB
David Perkins - D. J. Williams, Denver Broncos LB
Tee Shepard - Champ Bailey, Denver Broncos CB

what do you guys thing about these comparisons? or how do you think they compare to?

They're pretty meaningless. Most positions in football have a few common athletic archetypes, and it's not hard to categorize recruits accordingly.

It's just a cheap way to generate excitement about their product.

Definitely agreed. I mean, I couldn't really see them comparing recruits to bad players. I don't think these comparisons have much meaning behind them.

Larry Fitz is a a stretch, according to the internet, Fitz has 40 LBS on him. That doesn't just show up once you get to college.

And Champ Bailey was one of the fastest players in the league. I would say Tee is more of an Al Harris-type cb.

And Perkins is Boobie Miles without the injury. No NFL comparison.

If there is anyone I want Perkins to be, it's Von Miller.

Like when Rivals compared Oregon's Colt Lyeria to Brian Urlacher last year just because he is white and has a shaved head. Some are just kind of slapped together.

I will take this all day long. Al Harris impacted games.

While we're at comparisons, does anyone think Calabrese looks like Ron from jersey shore's brother?

Greenberry (if he fills out) looks like he would be more in the Brandon Marshall mold than the Fitzgerald mold.

Heck, I'll just settle for Greenberry being the next Michael Floyd!!

I think we better appreciate what we have in Michael while we can. He is a special, special talent. I don't think we will see such a physically dominant WR at ND again for a long time.

Ditto for Manti.

Here's to hoping your wrong. I will always take multiple very good receivers though.

This is so true about both. I mean to have such an impact receiver and LB at ND has been great for this team. Floyd has kept us up and got us back in so many games over the years. Manti has been the lynch-pen for defense that has improved drastically. I just hope Manti sticks around. Which I think he will.

Ronald Darby - DeAngelo Hall, Washington Redskins CB

Freshman season:
Hall played in all 11 games, starting one, and recorded 24 solo stops, 18 assists, three pass breakups and three interceptions.

I'll take it.

They aren't saying that the recruits will turn out to be each of the NFL players, they compared Noah spence to Derrick Thomas of the chief probably the greatest pass rusher of all time, but the are saying that the recruit has the same style of play as the NFL player, and that maybe if all the buttons are correctly pushed the recruits top potential is that type of player in their prime

Tee Sheperd is good. Bailey good? Possible. I know he's a hard worker and will definitely impress.
