Brick old buddy old pal
When you say a fucking date which word are you placing the emphasis on?
Enquiring minds want to know?

While I had a few dates in my youth that ended favorably, I'm pretty certain I never planned an actual "fucking" date. How times have changed! lol

Proud of you Brick.

Damn it, Brick! I thought you lived in North Carolina? Why are you messaging me about my TV on Facebook Marketplace?

But seriously, I know DLP is outdated tech, but it's right there in the title! You think people would Google some of these questions. I have all the dimensions and weight in the ad. Why would you try to mount a 145 pound rear projection TV on your wall???

Holy crap, I forgot all about this!

I never could find anyone to take that thing, even offered it for free after dealing with one too many idiots that wanted to try and haul it away in something the size of a Honda Civic.
I ended up dropping the thing off at Goodwill after hours.

I posted our RV on FB Marketplace. Listed all the details. Still got questions about details I had listed. The worst of it was asking about the mileage.

You got all that after one date?

In all seriousness, I think historically that's very normal.

Further, i go to law school with a metric fuckton of Jews. Religious jews often get engaged after a couple months. I find it to be rather charming and refreshing.

Its absolutely wild to me that dating for years and years and being engaged for over a year has become normalized. It works great for men, but its objectively horrible for society and for women writ large.

One of my buddies went on a first date and told me he was gonna marry her. At the time I thought it was a little weird but sumbitch put a ring on it a few months later. That should be celebrated.

We just got engaged over Labor Day (at Fenway) after about 10 years of being together. Might be 10 more years before the knot is tied.

What’s the big hurry, man? Most folks I know have been divorced at least once including her. Just go with the flow and don’t force it as that rarely will turn out well.

Whiskey will be triggered reading this.

I wish everyone happiness in finding their better half. But your story is the exception, not the rule.

Women wait for men to propose. Oddly enough my mother did not, she proposed to my dad. I find it hilarious and its a sore subject to bring up to him..

But imagine your a woman in a relationship for several years and the man hasn't proposed....to me it looks like he's looking for an excuse to get rid of you. And now you are a 30 year old woman whose biological clock is ticking.

Life is too short to wait around. It is much shorter for women if they want children. I am a single 29 year old guy, I can get away with fucking around until I get back home...but I am not ever going to waste a girl's time because I was raised better than that.

I'm sure someone will make a much more articulate and nuanced argument than I will. My friends who are married with kids have everything that I and every other single guy in their 20's and 30's want. A lack of sleep...a grill...a yard...and two pairs of New Balance shoes, one of which is grass stained.

EDIT: Rooting for you man. Love the Fenway proposal. I hope you are blessed with a lifetime of happiness together.

I'm sure my situation is far from normal but my wife and I started talking at a party. Everyone went out to the bar later that night but we just hung out and talked all night then went to breakfast. She moved in with me three days later and we will celebrate our 27th anniversary in a few months. Sometimes you just know when it is right and it doesn't take months of dating to figure it out.

Absolutely based (other than moving in together before marriage). Love this for you.

I hear you man and we’re both past that. I just turned 40 and never had plans on children or marriage. She’s older than me and her kids with the ex-hubby are grown. Every situation is different and it works well for us.

The shit of it is, I’m the one with rarely used insurance through work but she’s the one who truly needs it. Pretty shitty reason to get married IMO and we just pay out of pocket for her shit.

I’d be happy to post a pic or two but don’t now how…gotten close but a jpeg error. ‍

Fenway then Martha’s Vineyard a few months ago was a blast.

Yep. 30 and no children is 4th and 1 for women. You better be able to trust your oline (partner).
