I just realized something if people haven't already realized it or it's already been posted in here....

When you buy unlimited reputation power per day it reduces the amount of reputation you hand out each time you rep someone.

I realized this when Bogs repped me awhile back and got like 700 points....then he just repped me recently and only got 100 points. I then saw Bogs bought the unlimited rep recently.

For me: some of the newbies I repped for joining IE and it only moved their bar up 1. I removed the unlimited perk and repped a newbie and it went up 3-4 bars.

So there's my research experiment for the year. Adios.

Just did some trial and error with a high reputation power poster and the max it gave me was 100 when their rep power was actually 10x greater than that.

So, if you have a pretty high rep power and you bought the "unlimited reps per day" perk you will only be able to give a post a maximum of 100 points at a time.

....you can remove this perk if you wish.

Interesting --- trivial games we play but I'd rather make the "earned impact" I guess. Bery: did you just get a rather large green rep from me?

20, but I've only been here a week and I think that's what everyone starts with.

By the way, how do you get the flair on the left side of your post? I wanted to post Indians, Packers, and ND logos.

"Mike, we need to talk about your flair. People can get discussion about ND football anywhere, ok? They come to IrishEnvy for the atmosphere and the attitude. That's what the flair's about. You want to express yourself, don't you?"

When you buy unlimited reputation power per day it reduces the amount of reputation you hand out each time you rep someone.

Wait....is the rep that you hand out not the same every time (assuming you haven't bought any sort of special feature)? And if it changes, can you control it or is it based on something?

Your "Reputation Power", which is displayed on the upper right of the Latest Reputation Given panel in the User CP, is the amount of reputation given or deducted when you rep someone. It increases as you post, rep, and receive rep (not sure the exact mechanics behind it).

We've just learned that buying the Unlimited Rep per Day perk limits your rep power to 100, which sucks.

I think you know this but this is how I'm interpretting it by answering...

When people give you reps....your reputation power that you in turn give others will increase. When OMM repped me - my rep power increased 15 points.

So if my "reputation power" is 1000 and I rep you you should receive 1000 "reputation received". If someone reps me my 1000 will grow in proportion to however much reps I got to say 1006 and so on and so on.

You can't determine how much you give someone. That's what caught my eye because some people rep me one time and it's a lot...the next time they repped me it wasn't a lot at all. That's when I looked it up and realized they bought the perk restricting their full rep power per post.

Bottom line, whe JPham reps you (like he did to me), you win.

Gotcha. So if your rep power is 700, unless you buy a perk you give someone 700 every time? It doesn't diminish the more you rep someone or if you rep a bunch of people in one day or something?

I don't recall ever getting repped by the Godfather :(

Then clearly it hasn't happened. Just like when Kennedy was assassinated, when the US beat the Russians, when the Sox won the 04 series or when Vinatieri split the uprights vs the Rams, you'd remember where you were when it happened.

Hah good detective work.... I bought the perk because it annoyed me when someone would make a great post and I couldn't rep them because I had repped them "too recently." (also, I wanted to neg rep bomb a troll into oblivion).

Little did I know that it would make my rep power effectively 1/12th of what it could be.
