I wish the NCAA would quit pulling their puds and make a ruling! This is ridiculous, to take this long!

I agree. But when you have no jurisdiction and no subpoena power, people can **** around with you as much as they want.

The part of the scandal that appears to have been buried is the "gentleman" club part and the procuring of prostitutes for the players and recruits at the private "parties".
Apparently, the is every day normal behavior for these folks.

Going to be as clear as I can on this: No one at Miami believes that the NCAA letter arrival is imminent.

This whole situation is ridiculous. It feels like they are trying to do the least amount of damage to their program but at the same time hopefully the NCAA looks at it as doing enough and doesn't beat them up too bad.
Its not like they are going to be missing out on some big time bowl game ala OSU.

exactly ^^^ as above...wait until the end of the season to say they are going to self impose sanctions and not go to bowl when your season has been in the tank...IF i was the ncaa i would come at them harder for trying to pull this sh#t ...but we know the NCAA is as tough as nails already

I want to know when Oregon's sanctions are going to come down. This stuff takes way too long.

Miami: "Please don't kill us, NCAA. See? We won't play in the postseason this year. That can make up for our years of rampant cheating, right? Right? TELL US WE'RE RIGHT."

Miami's pathetic self-imposed sanction is the soccer equivalent of taking a dive so the ref will honor you --- give the bast@rds the Red Card anyway!!!

I'm with Pandfan hopefully the Ncaa takes this as a slap in the face and lays it on Miami. Don't think they will but can hope.

I have a feeling the NCAA makes an example out of Miami. I think it's the best school to do it too because the program carries a lot of cache but isn't very good right now. Miami doesn't pull in a lot of cash or have a large fan base. But, they get a lot of attention anyway. So if the NCAA crushes Miami it won't negatively impact too much stuff but other schools will take notice because it's a big name program.

Smart Move By Miami

Smart Move By Miami

Self impose and get credit for time served.

Put on the sack cloth and ashes and strike your breast three times asking forgiveness.

Damage control.

Similar to Kelly restricting Floyd from Spring Ball after a DUI. Floyd was still subject to Res Life but having already been suspended from a semester extracurricular activity, having already entered counseling, having voluntarily undertaken a deversion program Res Life had the opportunity to consider Floyd's turn around as mitigating factors.

Like Res Life the NCAA is neither bound nor limited by self imposed actions. A one game bowl suspension isn't going to balance the scale. But unlike the arrogant, obfuscating tactics that the Southern Cals and Alabamas have taken in dealing with the NCAA, Miami's small move is a step in the right direction.

It's also prudent after the fact damage control.

I think we are not giving Miami enough credit here. If they beat Duke this weekend, they would have gone to the ACC championship game. For a program needing to grasp at every last straw of positive news, I think that is a significant thing.

Florida State will demolish Miami in the ACC championship, IMO. They will end up with 7 wins and playing in a crappy bowl game. Not gonna give them any credit for that.

I believe it is the right thing to do if your Miami. Like NDaccountant said they still had a shot at the ACC championship when they made the decision. However, they still deserve to get hammered considering the severity of the violations. Anything less than what USC got would be a disgrace, not including the self-imposed bowl bans.

still trying to figure out how his offense i going to work in the NFL...
It wouldn't. Oregon's whole game is predicated on having more speed than the other guy. That doesn't happen in the NFL. In CFB speed is tilted heavily towards the offensive side of the ball so 9 out of 10 times Kelly can just have his players run around the other defense and speedboat them.

In the NFL the speed is more equitable and as we seen the other night when Chip Kelly's offense goes up against a physical defense with playmakers it goes off the rails. In the NFL he'd face defenses like that every week except 10000x better.

Brian Kelly, who ran a similar system prior to ND, would probably make the jump with more success than Chip Kelly because BK is a pragmatist. I look at CK's play calling against Stanford and he's stubborn. He kept calling the same plays that weren't working and his going for it on 4th down after Mariota's 77 yard run may have cost Oregon a shot at a national title.

Yes Miami should be hammered. They did the right thing this year but if they were 10-1 or 11-0 would they have done this? No way.
