If Obama wins she won't run in 2016. Everyone will be "fed up" with the democrats and vote republican just like they did with voting for the democrats after Bush. Everyone was "fed up" with republicans and wanted something "different" because "nobody can be as bad as Bush".

A candidate like Hillary can overcome all that. If she really wants it (and I'm not sure she still does), she will run in 2016.

I think that she would rather Obama win.

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but the Clinton's don't really care for Obama. Bill Clinton in particular considers him to be an amateur who simply stole the election from Hilary.

I'd bet any amount of money that the Clintons really prefer Romney. Bill has let things hint that way. He's been a double-edged sword all along.

Obama threw them a bone to appease them (them being the most powerful family in the Democratic party) and asked Hilary to be Sec of State, but that hasn't solved their issues.

The issue is not whether Mormons have a "faith is heavily based on Christ." And it is certainly not whether Mormons have a "right" to call themselves whatever they want (they obviously do).

The issue is whether Mormons fit within the meaning of the word "Christian" as it is understood generally by the Christian world. That definition is not anyone with a "faith heavily based on Christ." Just like Indian tribes get to define who is an is not in the Tribe, Christians get to decide who is an who is not Christian. The definition is complex, but well defined:

Your argument is basically a defense of propoganda. If you use a word in public, that has a popular meaning, to describe something that does not fit within that definition, you are deceiving people. Every dictator has a political party that includes the term "democratic" or "people's," and they go on and on about those values even as they undermine them. Its really hard to argue against that kind of stuff because its irrational.

Mormons call themselves Christians and seem intent on being identified as part of the broader Christian world. That is for Christians to debate and decide, not disinterested (or interested) outsiders to impose.

Having said all this, I agree with you that Mormonism today is very different that it was 100years ago, and that Mitt Romney should be based on his actions and professed beliefs, not on what people think Mormonism is really all about. My guess is that Romney's mormonism makes him think a lot about striving to be a better person through living out traditional values. If you don't like traditional values, you probably don't want a serious Mormon.

No real hangups with what you said, except that I'm a propogandist...:). Mormons think they are Christians, and jump up and down pointing to the very differences you, and others point to...no deceit there. I recognized the same differences, and find them important to my self image as a Christian, so I am not LDS.

...but I don't share the view that what is happening here is analogous to what dictators do to words like "democratic". If Mormons were claiming Christ did and taught things that were inconsistant with what we understand of Christ, I'd be on board with your view...they don't. Their depiction of Christ, that I know of, seems pretty "Christ-like", and like I said, I don't think they try to obfuscate the differnces..."Christ" is in their Church's name...they teach Christ heavily, they claim to be Christian, and I ain't arguing. The rest of the Tribe of Christians...yea they'll decide for themselves...I actually like that analogy.

Ryan might be likeable, but his budget plan would destroy Medicare as we know it. Seniors don't want to hear that.

Romney reportedly picks Paul Ryan as VP

Romney reportedly picks Paul Ryan as VP

I am a big Romney fan, but I hate this choice. I don't have much against Paul Ryan, I actually think he's a pretty smart guy who actually is paying attention to the tidal wave of unfunded liabilities as the baby boomers retire themselves into oblivion.

But, could he have picked a guy who fits more into the Obama narrative (which is total bullsh*t) of being "out of touch" and hating poor people? Perhaps, but Paul Ryan is going to be easy pickings for David Axelrod. This could get ugly.

Just a bad, bad pick.

He needs someone who will get the votes of independents. They cast the votes that decide the winner.

Rarely do die hard liberals nor die hard conservatives grasp that fundamental voting imperative.

And Wisconsisn's a swing state.

If it is Ryan, I think the pick is to help solidify to voters that spending will be reigned in during his administration. And there are a lot of independents out there worried about our Government's spending.

I'd like to know why Romney outsourced so many jobs while he was the chairman, ceo, and president of Bain capital. I'd also like to know how his IRA is between 20-100 million dollars when the limit is $30,000/year, not to mention why he has offshore bank accounts. If he's been paying his taxes and has nothing to hide, why won't he show the rest of his tax returns? Lastly, I don't appreciate his plan to raise my taxes. The guy is a crook.

I'd like to know why Romney outsourced so many jobs while he was the chairman, ceo, and president of Bain capital.

The majority of those claims are simply untrue.

However, outsourcing does occur. Businessmen play by the rules and environments that exist, and they play to win. How is that not easy to understand? America, for many industries, has been a bad place to do business. I don't fault people who outsource at all, as much as I'd like to see it not happen. We've been living in a global economy for a while now you can either help make America more hospitable to business, or you can lament businesses and whine about how things used to be.

I would trust a guy who has a track record of success in the private sector and public sector with being about to promote economic growth and beat other countries at their own game.

I'd also like to know how his IRA is between 20-100 million dollars when the limit is $30,000/year, not to mention why he has offshore bank accounts.

You know it's not illegal to have offshore accounts right? Bain Capital has offices in the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Germany, India, China, and Japan. You expect the CEO to only have bank accounts in the US? Get real.

If he's been paying his taxes and has nothing to hide, why won't he show the rest of his tax returns?

He's definitely hiding something, but that doesn't mean it's illegal. It could simply show that he made millions upon millions of dollars and that he doesn't want to feed the bologna "out of touch narrative."

Or, it could show that he's been a bit of a liberal in terms of where he put his money while he was in Massachusetts and not the national stage and that would anger his somewhat fragile relationship with hardcore conservatives.

Lastly, I don't appreciate his plan to raise my taxes. The guy is a crook.

Now this is just funny. It's almost not worth a response, almost. I'll try to be respectful to such ignorance.

You don't think Obamacare is going to hurt your wallet? You don't think government spending the the inflation that will eventually come with it won't hurt your wallet? You don't think Cap & Trade would have hurt your pocket? You don't think Obama's EPA's pursuit of destroying fossil fuels isn't going to raise the cost of energy and thus hurt your wallet? Honestly what world are you living in?

There are several key points with which I disagree strongly with Romney (gay marriage drugs, military spending, immigration, etc) but his economic experience his unbelievably impressive and this country needs that more than anything else right now. I'm tired of the amateur we have in office right now.

Buster, I got a lot of respect for you, but your ignorance in blindly trusting a politician is truly dumbfounding. Rather than have questions about a person's background who could potentially be the next President of the United States, you readily defend a politician and completely deny any chance of wrong doing on his part. A guy who has offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes is not a person who should be in the executive office. I'm not here to start a political battle, but our politicians are bought. There's no denying that.

Agree. It may be very smart in real life, but i doubt its political prowess, i always thought Romney needed a female/hispanic/black VP, to cover the field more than just white male

Three reasons why Romney may have picked Ryan:

Paul Ryan is Romney's VP Pick

Paul Ryan is Romney's VP Pick

Very interesting. Should excite the bases of both sides, but I think it invigorates the Republican side more. That said, I'm not sure of the electoral implications.

I still would have preferred Rubio.

I like the pick but I think Bob McDonnell from Virginia was a better choice. Romney needed someone with some "wow factor" instead of a vanilla VP. He's already plain enough. Plus he needed someone who is known for being very conservative to help solidify his Republican base.

All in all, good pick. I still think it could have been better.

He was my second choice behind Rubio. I am very happy with this pick though. I was going to vote for Romney regardless of the VP because he is by far the lesser of two evils for me. I don't really like him that much, but with Paul Ryan on the ticket he has gained my full support.

It's funny reading the twitter comments. Republicans are super excited about it. Some libs are acting like they are really happy about it, while others are acknowledging its a good choice.

I think he is the right guy for VP though with his knowledge of the budget among many other things. The only thing he follows on twitter is the National Debt Clock.... LOL

I liked McDonnell too. ND grad as well, would have been cool to have an ND grad as VP!

If Obama wins she won't run in 2016. Everyone will be "fed up" with the democrats and vote republican just like they did with voting for the democrats after Bush. Everyone was "fed up" with republicans and wanted something "different" because "nobody can be as bad as Bush".

i predict that this cycle of "fed up" will just keep continuing, we will never have a consecutive series of republican or democrat presidents ever again

Not sure what happened to the other thread someone started on this last night, but I'm elated about the pick. I'm also all-in with the President, FWIW. Ryan will play well to the republican base, but he will be toxic to the center.

Obama by a 5 - 10% margin in November.

Sorry to my friends that like him, but Romney is a stooge. This was a realy poor choice and probably the only thing left that could have helped his cause.
