Oregon Ducks acknowledge NCAA recruiting violations - ESPN

EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon has agreed in documents that it violated NCAA regulations relating to recruiting and the use of recruiting services.

A statement of "proposed findings of violations" submitted by the NCAA to the Oregon athletic department was obtained Friday in a public records request by several media outlets.

The report concludes that Oregon didn't adequately monitor its football program in relation to recruiting rules.

The NCAA has been looking into Oregon's recruiting practices since questions arose over a 2010 payment of $25,000 to Willie Lyles and his Houston-based recruiting service. The information that Oregon said Lyles provided for the fee was largely outdated.

Oregon has not received a formal Notice of Allegations from the NCAA. The heavily redacted documents released Friday do not include any possible penalties.

In an effort to show their contriteness (and stem off USC like sanctions) Oregon offered to:

1.) NOT allow Lache Seastrunk to play for them next season.

2.) Make their players wear the same uniform at least twice in a season during 1 of the next 4 years.

3.) Have Student Focus Groups develop a Sackcloth and Ashes Motif Collared Tee Shirt for the coaching staff to wear at all non-televised games and closed practices.

4.) NOT accept individual donations from Phil Knight exceeding $100 million in any of the next 4 years.

5.) Make themselves BOWL INELIGIBLE for any bowl with a payout of less than $300,000.00 for the next 4 years.

I don't see anything big coming out of this. Chip Kelly would have bolted for TB if things were about to get nasty IMO.

Kelly did bolt for the NFL for a couple of hours.

Phil Knight has a bigger checkbook than TB.

Oregon/NCAA appear headed for summary disposition - CBSSports.com

"If nothing else, summary disposition would signal a lack of contentiousness between the NCAA and Oregon.

“Basically what you’re doing, you don’t have to go to [an infractions committee] hearing,” Buckner said. “You’re not spending all the time and money for a hearing. Secondly, you’re trying to predict by putting down on paper and agreeing on sanctions.”"

Nothing honest, unintentional about Oregon paying Lyles to deliver talent - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

But the NCAA is willing to pretend he is, because it says Oregon had a "failure to monitor," which means stuff slipped through the cracks, instead of a lack of institutional control. That decision has been greeted with relief in Oregon, where the Oregonian polled readers to predict the coming sanctions. Nearly 75 percent foresee a loss of scholarships, nothing more. Only 9 percent envision the kind of crippling sanctions the NCAA gave Southern California after the Reggie Bush scandal.

And if you ask me, the USC sanctions should be the starting point for Oregon. The minimum. While it's true that an actual player (and family members) received benefits in the USC case -- and received them at a value well beyond $25,000 -- there's a distinction here. It's a distinction Oregon fans will ignore because it's convenient, but it's a distinction that should appall the NCAA:

At USC, the checks were written by outsiders: agents, runners, marketing reps.

At Oregon, the check was written by the Oregon football team.

See that distinction? It's grotesque. This wasn't some mysterious off-campus figure exerting influence. This was Chip Kelly making sure $25,000 went to the guy in Houston who says he helped steer recruits to Oregon. And Lyles had a hands-on role, too: He says he advised eventual Oregon All-American tailback LaMichael James to transfer to Arkansas for his final semester of high school to avoid Texas' standardized test required for graduation. Then he showed Seastrunk how to use his grandmother to sign his scholarship papers, because Seastrunk's mother wasn't sold on Oregon.

Yeah it says that they will only get to use 137 uniform options instead of 138. Gold jacket, green jacket, who gives a ****?

Wow! Happy Gilmore? You went deep into the bag to pull that one out. Take a bow.

just a guess but since Kelly left i wonder if that impacted the punishment but as i write this pearl was fired...so i guess i don't know

Or only 1 uniform combo RT @KevinScarbinsky: Forcing Oregon to huddle would've hurt worse
