Hartman is a worry but in this day of college football, one bad hire can sink a ship fast. Carr? Minchey? If Carr goes I could see Cam going as well. At some point Freeman the salesman is going to have to start actually selling cars.

Funny thing is once the football starts, our offense will probably look fine (especially if Hartman sticks). It’s the neg recruiting over this shitshow that we’re going to endure for the next six months, with no way to counter by pointing at results, that is the big immediate risk. Our offensive class could completely fall apart.

For all the bitching about Rees as a recruiter, this situation is vastly worse.

He doesn't actually have to be enrolled anywhere this semester, I believe. If he deemed it best for his future and was planning on transferring somewhere in the summer, I think he technically could drop all his classes and spend the next few months working with a private QB coach while putting out feelers for who is going to need a QB after spring practice.
True I guess he could just bolt. But Guidugli is a credible QB coach, so why would he? Point is he can’t be anywhere else for spring ball, which is especially valuable for a QB.
Assuming he’s here for that, let’s see how things go.

He doesn't need a coach. He needs an OC that runs an NFL style offense. Can Parker do that efficiently. NO ONE FUCKING KNOWS! Honestly, Hartman should follow Rees to Bama where he can get the offense he needs AND the money.

Unfortunately they’re a host of possible better landing spots for Hartmann including Bama. Perhaps Rees can fly back up in the Bama jet to drop in on his buddies Jackass Swarbrick and RP III.

There is no doubt Hartmann has options that he is looking at.

Tommy is a supposed "schematic genius"... but I'd venture to say that he got outcoached in 40% of his games??? In big games, the number might honestly be under 50%. For every brilliant call he made, there was probably one equally boneheaded which ended up bombing.

I think Tommy will do well at Alabama where Saban cracks the whip and installs the "process". If Tommy's players can execute his calls, he will end up looking like a genius. Scheme is great if you have solid player development and execution. ND isnt there yet.

While BK left the program in a good place, for ND to take the next step it has to be with MF's players. Those kids still need to be coached up and developed. I think Parker can be successful with a simplified playbook coupled with strong S&C and player development. Practice needs to be about teaching fundamentals and execution through repetition. That's the recipe to a baseline 10 win season and how you make sure that Marshall and Stanford never happen again.

I think MF is circling the wagon with his guys to ensure consistent messaging. One step back in order to take 3 steps forward. Parker would not have been my first choice, but his hiring doesnt have to be the end of the world.

If Hartman were to actually leave I'm not sure I can think of how the program could get any lower.
Notre Dame would be fine, Buchner proved he is very capable. Do you remember all the disaster offseason under Kelly? Players getting suspended, cheating scandal, suspension of Golson, Arrests, players getting kicked off the team. Did you hear about anyone getting suspended this past year?

I'm surprised nobody has gotten their panties in a wad and come in here screaming and yelling at mods to "shut this thread down."

I am anxious to hear how Hartman feels about Charlize Pheron as his new OC though. I wonder if Marqus has sat him down and talked with him?

My high level coaching contact described Parker as an “aw shucks clown” that “couldn’t command the room.” Said that Franklin pushed him out immediately.

One data point.
Go Irish!

Loy says Hartman is locked in to ND, no concerns, ready to put in a show.

Some raw intel I picked up recently from a current player, nothing earth shattering:

-Said that the "vibes" around the offense with Hartman are completely different than at this same point last year where there was still just a ton of uncertainty around what they wanted to do // were going to do on offense. Said that with Buchner you kinda "hoped" shit would work but with Hartman you “know” it will (my inference is that this is about executing called plays and getting the ball to the right people accurately and on time). He basically made it sound like Hartman was Tom Brady and some sort of QB genius.
-Said everyone liked Buchner a lot and really believed in him and he thinks he could kill it at Bama. Said that he made "crazy" plays in practice and is the real deal just wasn't consistent and got hurt too much so he didn't get reps.
-Also said Buchner was done and knew he was transferring as soon as Rees left.

-On Styles… don’t want to be too negative, but sounds like he wanted out end of his freshman year and then stayed when we got a new WR coach and then mentally checked out when he faced some adversity to start the season. Did not sound like he was a great or a bad teammate just someone where it didn't work out how he had envisioned/

-On Diggs… big ego. Called him “mid” and said he was worse than Payne. Apparently Payne was destroying people this spring and is way more explosive than Diggs.

-I asked about the new coaches and he said his coach didn’t change so he didn’t really have a big opinion. Said that the most of the guys on offense liked Rees and everyone thought he was really smart.
