Making the switch from Jurkovec to a semi-competent QB sucks for ND. This game was going to be a cakewalk and now might be a bit of a knife fight if ND can't move the ball on offense.
It'll be their super bowl too

Glad they don't have a BYE so Golden gets more film. Clemsons got 2 real games prior to us too.

We're sitting pretty.

Yup. New kid looks like a big step up for them on offense.

Another familiar name is a captain on defense -- Shayne Simon, who looks pretty good on the blitz.

We got our asses kicked in the trenches by Louisville. We better not take Pitt lightly

Yes, it will be, and anyone who underestimates this hasn't been paying attention for....I don't know, four fucking decades?

The amount of rock fights ND has had with this stupid team is enough for two lifetimes. I hope this game kicks off at 1:30 EST so ND can beat their ass and we can all go on with the rest of our day.

If ND can avoid multiple turnovers (like they had at Louisville and like Louisville had on the road at Pitt) then ND will handle them.

This is what frustrates me w/ the ND media. They know this and yet still make their prognostications based on what’s on paper. I just think you can’t do that w/ college teams. Too much emotion & the fact that they’re limited in how much they practice & still have to go to class.

Before UL, Tim Prister criticized Jack Plummer their QB. The criticism was fair obviously but simply dismissing someone as horrible is a fool’s errand in CFB. Plummer didn’t exactly light ND up but he also didn’t throw any picks or do any harm to their overall game. I knew as soon as he made that comment, that ND could be in trouble if they aren’t taking UL as serious as the media members.

Plummer sucks but didn't have to be good to beat ND within the context of that game.

Notre Dame just beat USC with 126 yards of passing offense.

Nuance matters, you are right.

That period from 2008-2013 was punch in the face worthy. I was at the 2004 and 2008 games. Oh joy. Nothing like being a Bears and ND fan watching Dave Wannstedt win a game in Notre Dame Stadium. Brutal.

ND has won 3 in a row, the last meeting being 2020.

Ugly game from both teams. Pitt’s QB is a PSU transfer. UL’s Plummer, of course; threw two picks (one a pick six) and lost a fumble. Their stud RB Jordan had 2 carries for 8 yds (maybe he got injured?).

I'd be nervous if this wasn't coming off the bye week. ND has time to recharge and refocus.

It's especially going to help Hartman having Thomas, Greathouse and Colzie back and healthy.

I feel good that ND is going to run through the rest of this schedule and finish 10-2. Probably setting myself up for disappointment but I really do think ND is going to hit the ground running on these last 4 games.

They need a week off, not sure colzie is back

Thomas hopefully can be 100%, he clearly hasn’t been or greathouse

This game was going to be a walk over with Jurkovec at QB. We will know more about Pitt once they're done with Wake. They have had a solid defense this year (ranked in the 30s by most advanced stats) but an offense that ranks in the 70s. They way ND loses this game would be that the offense continues to suck and Pitt makes just enough plays to win something low scoring thanks to their improved QB play.

Nd has 2 weeks to get healthy and figure out an offensive game plan for the rest of the season

Having a dud offensive performance bs Pitt would be even shocking to me. This would be more than just Parker imo, if freeman isn’t involved reviewing or pushing changes on O, what’s he doing?

It’s a pretty low bar to say Pitt’s QB play is improved. The new guy Viellieux isn’t much of a threat. Was 12-26 vs Louisville.
Pitt/Wake will give us a look at half our remaining schedule.

Their one win is Wofford, and Virginia Tech handed them their asses. Maybe they beat BC at home, but I can't see any other wins for Pitt the rest of the year.
Well Kreskin, what do you have to say for yourself?

Plus he hasn't played against a quality D like ND's.

Johnny Noname looking pedestrian going into his first game against ND? Dark horse heisman performance incoming.

With this defense, I think they'll be okay in avoiding this for the most part.

Until the WR room is healthy, however, Pitt and everyone else thereafter is going to stack up to dare Parker to throw the ball. SC gave everyone the film on taking away Evans. Doesn't mean everyone will be able to do it, but right now if opposing defenses neutralize Evans, ND is pretty screwed unless they get gifted turnovers and have three play TD drives that begin in the red zone.

It would certainly be a good feeling to see Parker and the offense come out in the game with Pitt having made some adjustments over the bye week. Getting the receiver room stronger should be a major factor but making some other tweaks seems necessary. The offense has been good at limiting their turnovers (other than the UL game) which is great but they can’t count on beginning drives in the opponent’s territory.

I think that Louisville lost the game rather than Pitt won it. Two interceptions I think (this is off-the-top memory) , and six fumbles, although only one was lost --- still usually drive killers. Also noticed that the Jerk was in Did Not Participate status, despite our claims that he was shifting positions.

Pittsburgh's defense vs. Notre Dame's offense concerns me. The style of football that attacks ND's offensive weaknesses is Pitt's bread and butter.

The last two times ND has played Pitt they averaged 2.3 and 2.1 yards per carry.
