help me remember the phrase....
Four quarters of....?
I'm really curious to see if they're a paper tiger. They are technically top 10 in the nation in sacks, but almost 50% of their sack production was in the first two weeks (Missouri St and GA Southern; 9/20 sacks).I think their DL is improved. Physically, there’s a lot of NFL bodies there.
No question, the DL is scary. By far the strength of the defense. I hope Otting in particular is prepared.I think their DL is improved. Physically, there’s a lot of NFL bodies there.
If otting isn't cutting it who gets to come in?No question, the DL is scary. By far the strength of the defense. I hope Otting in particular is prepared.
Absher, I believe, though the depth chart says Cam Herron. If otting isn't cutting it who gets to come in?
Justice Haynes also got hurt and I don't believe he played much after the first quarter? I could be messing up the time but I know he's out for their game against Washington this weekend.I'm really curious to see if they're a paper tiger. Here are their sacks by week:
So only averaging 2 sacks per game their last three games against higher quality competition. They are ranked 29th in total run defense allowed, but here are the ranked rushing offenses they've faced:
- Missouri St - 5
- GA Southern - 4
- @Purdue - 5
- MSU - 2
- @UI - 1
- scUM - 3
- Missouri St: N/A - FCS
- GA So: 100
- Purdue - 91
- MSU - 96
- UI - 109
- scUM - 19
The scUM result looks good and stands out for sure, holding them to only106 yards, well below their average, but USC can't sell out against the run against ND. Also, TBF, scUM played majority of the second half from behind and had to play catch up. scUM's top two backs (Haynes and Marshall) combined for 119 yards (total yards less than that thanks to Underwood playing like shit). They averaged 5.1 and 4.9 YPC, respectively. If Price and Love get those results, we should destroy them with our balanced attack.
So, you're not wrong...they seem improved and there is talent there, but the quality of competition (or lack thereof) certainly inflating their team stats.
surely AbsherIf otting isn't cutting it who gets to come in?
IF we're talking solely body types on the DL, USC has had NFL guys every year Riley has been there.I think their DL is improved. Physically, there’s a lot of NFL bodies there.
Better than the jackasses from the ACCIs it going to be Big 10 referees? If so I just need to mentally prepare.
Yeah and they ran the ball pretty well until Haynes got hurt. He’s better than MarshallJustice Haynes also got hurt and I don't believe he played much after the first quarter? I could be messing up the time but I know he's out for their game against Washington this weekend.
Yep he got hurt in the 2nd quarter and didn't return, and he's certainly the lifeblood of that offense.Justice Haynes also got hurt and I don't believe he played much after the first quarter? I could be messing up the time but I know he's out for their game against Washington this weekend.
Yeah I just checked. It looks like his last run came with 7:15 left in the first half and he still ended the game with 10 for 51, so this defense can definitely be run on.Yeah and they ran the ball pretty well until Haynes got hurt. He’s better than Marshall
Worked on Mike GarretSome of you guys that live near ND need to revive carrying the coffin around with bury usc sign
