Turnovers and penalties will be the reason we do or don’t have a comfortable lead in the fourth imo.

A little concern is unsportsmanlike penalties. Our players especially Bowen and now others have been trash talking players a lot over top them after making a tackle. I can’t stand that. There has been a number of times the last few games I thought the official would throw a flag.

Hopefully the team plays aggressive and violent during the play, not after.

Season is on the line Saturday against our biggest rival, in potentially the last meeting between the two for an unforseen amount of time.

I don't know if I could stomach a defeat. However, I don't believe I'll have to worry about it. We are the better team, have home field advantage, and it will be an electric atmosphere. I don't see how USC can contain our offense for 4 quarters if CJ Carr plays like he has been.

Defensively, our run D has been very solid. If we make USC one dimensional, the stops will come. No reason ND should lose this game.

Do they have any gamebreakers on either side of the ball aside from Lemon, Maiava, and maybe Lane? I haven't watched them play this year and don't recognize many names on the depth chart.

I think their DL is improved. Physically, there’s a lot of NFL bodies there.
I'm really curious to see if they're a paper tiger. They are technically top 10 in the nation in sacks, but almost 50% of their sack production was in the first two weeks (Missouri St and GA Southern; 9/20 sacks).

Here are their sacks by week:
  1. Missouri St - 5
  2. GA Southern - 4
  3. @Purdue - 5
  4. MSU - 2
  5. @UI - 1
  6. scUM - 3
So only averaging 2 sacks per game their last three games against higher quality competition. They are ranked 29th in total run defense allowed, but here are the ranked rushing offenses they've faced:

  1. Missouri St: N/A - FCS
  2. GA So: 100
  3. Purdue - 91
  4. MSU - 96
  5. UI - 109
  6. scUM - 19

The scUM result looks good and stands out for sure, holding them to only106 yards, well below their average, but USC can't sell out against the run against ND. Also, TBF, scUM played majority of the second half from behind and had to play catch up. scUM's top two backs (Haynes and Marshall) combined for 119 yards (total yards less than that thanks to Underwood playing like shit). They averaged 5.1 and 4.9 YPC, respectively. If Price and Love get those results, we should destroy them with our balanced attack.

So, you're not wrong...they seem improved and there is talent there, but the quality of competition (or lack thereof) certainly inflating their team stats.

Justice Haynes also got hurt and I don't believe he played much after the first quarter? I could be messing up the time but I know he's out for their game against Washington this weekend.

Is it going to be Big 10 referees? If so I just need to mentally prepare.

Yeah and they ran the ball pretty well until Haynes got hurt. He’s better than Marshall

Yep he got hurt in the 2nd quarter and didn't return, and he's certainly the lifeblood of that offense.

Michigan was only ranked because they beat Nebraska. A team that has squeaked by Cincinnati, MSU and Maryland. Then without their best player, that team was just simply not good.

Yeah I just checked. It looks like his last run came with 7:15 left in the first half and he still ended the game with 10 for 51, so this defense can definitely be run on.
