The guy is untouchable. FSU can't afford to penalize him at this point, they have to keep denying and denying and hope nothing comes of the subsequent investigations. Fisher "There's no evidence and there never was." Yup, that Casher video sure wasn't evidence...too bad the cops just plum couldn't find it.

Absolutely thrilled to watch Jaylon vs winston for 4 quarters, gonna be an absolute slugfest and I'm glad BVG is in our corner.

This week is finally here and we are in the exact spot we all were begging to be in and here we are..... Can we win?

Why the fuck not?

Let's assume they go on and win another NC this year and then it turns out Jameis is found to have received money for autographs the past two years (I know it probably won't happen). Will they have to vacate those wins and NCs since he would have been ineligible during that time?

From my understanding they only vacate wins, awards, and NCs if the coaches or administration knowingly plays an ineligible player. That's why I don't see them allowing him to play until the autograph investigation is concluded. We'll see though.

Can you pass the kool aid? Zero chance he is suspended for this week.

One sidebar, all of this crap with Winston could result in most fans across the US actually cheering for ND. LOL. Even the most ardent ND haters will be conflicted.

That’s what I was alluding to, the fact that this is a major violation and could cause them to forfeit wins since it has now been brought to their attention. That would mean they knowingly played an ineligible player…yet I agree with Gattaca and don’t see him sitting this one out.

Greatness passing by

Greatness passing by

I want to editorialize after watching all the talk shows today about this game. I'm on record with what I think the game will produce. Notre Dame will play well, they are used to the big stage, fsu will win in the end more than likely on talent. Raw semi pro football talent on campus to win and bring $$$$ to the university. BUT if that's all you see this weekend you will have missed the point---GREATNESS WILL BE PASSING BY if your in the stands watching this game. College guys playing college football from a university that is doing things the correct way. So as you show your jealousy and distain for all that Notre Dame is recognize that this football team just lost 5 guys to academic sanctions by its governing body on issues that wouldn't even come up at most places. So when this game is played out and their horse runs around and they plant their flag as all these 'neuvo riche' schools have their little skits these days, Notre Dame will touch a simple sign and go play. More importantly GREATNESS WILL BE PASSING BY and should be appreciated.

Winston has done so many stupid things and signing autographs WILL cost him this game . Just a hunch but at some point someone has to put their foot down .

Probably not, they'll find a way out of it.

I think most people think FSU is very beatable. It says a lot that a #1 ranked team dropped in the polls. That would not happen at all in the BCS era. At least I don't remember it if it did. But the only real poll that matters gets released the last week of October.

The only reason they dropped was Miss St. beat three top ten teams three weeks in a row. Per ESPN radio never done before.

Both teams will be ready. If Golson plays mistake free, I think we'll have a great shot at winning.

Never mind that LSU and TAMU had absolutely no business being there. Auburn is even a bit overrated.

A couple other notes from FSU availability: Matthew Thomas situation not fully resolved -- still waiting on the NCAA, Jimbo Fisher said. Per Jared Shanker ESPN tweet

The Atlantic hurricane arriving in Porto Rico now is about five days out from Florida but expected to turn North in a couple of days.

My initial thoughts on the game based on what I have seen from both teams.

1. The Irish have to be better at third down defense against FSU than they were against UNC. Have to get off the field.

2. The loss of Collinsworth does hurt the secondary. How much depends on how the other players step up.

3. The DL must get pressure on JW without relying on the blitz. Crab boy has been deadly against the blitz this season... mainly because he is checking the ball down way more than he did last year. Gotta stay glued to the short route. Maybe BVG shows blitz and then backs off some.

4. If FSU has 3rd and 4 or longer they throw almost every time. This should help BVG set up his defense without worrying too much for the run. Don't let crab boy get out of the pocket though. He may not run much, but he can get a first down or two to keep a drive alive.

5. The Irish have to run the ball on offense. The FSU DL can give up some yardage so the Irish should try to take advantage of that. I can't see the Irish backs getting long runs as they seem to lack that second level speed to do that against a pretty fast defense. But getting the dirty yards inside the tackles will be huge.

6. FSU's OL is not really that great. This should allow the Irish DL some opportunities to disrupt the FSU run game. They are better at pass blocking however.

7. The Irish will likely lose if it comes down to a kicking game. As good as Brinza has been, the FSU kicker is probably without a doubt the best in the country.

8. Can not turn the ball over. Giving crab boy the ball back will be a recipe for disaster.

9. YAC will be huge for the Irish defense. I hope the missed tackles, poor angles, etc the irish defense had against UNC was more a reflection of sloppy play rather than a lack of athleticism. FSU will make you pay if you miss tackles. They have plenty of speed even if they are not as fast as years past.

10. Golson must play a near flawless game. Yeah... I know it is obvious. Playing average will not get it done. If he struggles, it will be difficult if not impossible.

Not much that hasn't already been said and I think we will learn more as the week progresses. I like the Irish's chances in the game... even since preseason as this is not the same FSU team as last year. They are good... but they are also beatable.

Get it done Irish.

Gonzalo is predicted to hit Bermuda at 8 am on Saturday.

That's 12 hours before game time and 1200 miles away.

What's more relevant is whether VanGorder reaches hurricane force and whether Golson is a tropical depression or a beam of sunshine through the night.

I have to go to a wedding that starts about 2 hours before kickoff. I am trying to get my wife to let me bail after the ceremony and reception dinner. I may have to catch up on the first quarter or so, but hoping the hotel they are having the wedding at has free wifi so I can watch it on my phone.

As a side note, I was told about this wedding a few weeks ago and shrugged it off as I didn't check the date. I was talking to my wife the other night and brought up how we should have people over for the game this weekend, and she stuck the dagger in right then. I felt like a little boy again that didn't receive what he wanted for Christmas. Either way, I am hoping that by the time I get home we are comfortably ahead by a touchdown or more.

Lol. Let's hope that isn't the case. If it's an ultimatum situation than I guess I will just DVR it, and watch it later.
