Wasn't part of the renovation to make extra space for the blue hairs to be put up in a box and out of the stands?

They should be put up there and in the gold seats behind the mums. Stay isolated and feel special while the rest of us make some noise for the boys.

I was getting fired up as hell in my section against UVA, trying to get my section to stand the F up, and heard the lady behind me make a remark to her husband when I got up again for a 3rd and long.

Took everything within me not to turn around and tell her politely to watch from her *ucking couch if she doesn't want to get up and she's going to complain about the crowd trying to make an impact. I'm sick of those fans.

Don't get me wrong, they have every right to be there, but hold your remarks to yourself if you're not going get into it.

Sucks because now you're forced to stand the whole game out of spite just to piss her off more.

Is there a law that you can't scream while sitting?

I ended up having to sell my tickets, we are going to Florida. I didn't sell my parking pass, let me know if anyone is looking for a pass...I have one available in the Joyce lot. I'm about to put it on StubHub, but figured I'd ask you guys first.

I agree, but I honestly wish the gold seats weren't even there anymore. As someone who was privileged to sit there for 20 years, that section is a small smattering of dedicated fans that will make noise along with a large group of more reserved fans/blue hairs that won't make noise. Grandparents gave their gold seats up in 2017 when the university came around demanding extra donations, which felt like a bit of a slap in the face given the family funds a scholarship on campus and regularly make substantial contributions to building projects like the Jordan Hall of Science when it was built. The season tickets used to be 5 rows from the field right behind the opposing team's bench. When I scoped them out for the Georgia game back in 2017 I was incredibly disappointed to see Georgia fans sitting there. Either the new ticket holders sold out, or the university sold out, but I digress.

The bottom line is the gold seats are right down in the middle of the action and a large portion of our most reserved fans sit in those seats. Sure, it gets rowdier in November when the snow birds head to Florida for the season and give their tickets up to younger family members, but that's not before we play the likes of Michigan which is usually in September, or USC/Stanford in October, or an Oklahoma, etc. Usually the only big game we play in November is the last one against either Stanford or USC and that one is always played in California, so crowd noise is often not as big of a necessity in the final month. One of the best showings I've ever seen from the gold seats was in 2010 for the Utah game. So many fans had packed it in given the direction of the season and gave their tickets up, there were a lot of fresh faces for that game...and they were loud! I honestly think it's one of the reasons Utah was completely rattled in that game and laid an egg when we had no business winning that game.

I don't have illusions that the university will change their practices regarding the gold seats. They love money, so they'll continue to do what they do to bring in that extra revenue. Still, it's a bit disconcerting when you're playing Michigan in a night game in 2012, you're 5 rows behind Michigan's bench and you're being told to sit down. That attitude needs to change.

Man that would sting to see. Especially that night when we were all blown away by the fans giving up so many tickets.

I'm losing patience with the whole thing, I haven't been yelled at by an usher yet and I'm always rowdy at the game. But I'm not going to bite my tongue anymore in the stands

I know the traditionalists are going to call for my head after saying this, but they need to stop letting the band play on big 3rd downs. I love the Celtic Chant, but when it’s 3rd and 10 I need something that will give me goosebumps and get the crowd going. Maybe a little bit of It’s Going Down by Young Joc??

At the UVA game, it was either 21-17 or maybe 28-17, they played this video on the jumbo tron about how loud the crowd was in the 80s or 90s when UM couldn’t hike the ball. The video transitioned into crazy train. It was really cool and the crowd got pretty loud. But they’re still not that good at music choice and telling the band to stfu.

The bigger problem is when they get the geeks up there talking about recycling or play that goofy commercial about Karl Marx. Or really just anything non-football / sports related. But hey, overall great stuff. Oh, and the larger band needs to stfu when the smaller band is playing like a bunch of badasses in the stands. They drown them out instantly.

We need what Georgia did to us...resulting in six false starts! We need freaking noise! Band...music...video board...I don't care where it comes from but Notre Dame does NOT make it hard for other teams. I was at the Shatigan game last year at that was the loudest we have been in the 28 years I've been going to games. Make the noise so loud that the blue-hairs don't want to go anymore. Opponents really shouldn't be able to hear themselves think in big games...or any team when its 3rd and ten. I truly don't care what the traditionalist Alumni think...this is where college football is today. ND used to set the trends and now we re stuck in the freaking past. Band is great...give them some time. But push the decibels the rest of the time! Made this comment at the SC game two years ago and the guy next to me said...but wait...my kid is in the band. I was happy for him...but sad for the atmosphere.

I'm 67 yrs old my comment-get those old @%*#* 's outa there stay home and let the boys have a home field advantage-preposterous Notre Dame without a home field advantage-do you want a damn national championship or don't you !

This 67 year old stands when the crowd stands and yells when the crowd yells. I see a lot of older fans around me stand and yell. Several times the jumbotron had a message that said, "Virginia wants you to be quiet" along with the regular "Noise" and Get Loud" messages. Things are changing in the right direction IMO.

I do think the school could do a little better job of getting the word out about wearing green.

Someone rep this man for me, I can't do it yet. A die hard fan who came out in hostile territory in Louisville to cheer on our Irish.

I agree with you. I'd like to see the university do some forward thinking when it comes to big games and trying to do a "Green out." Hell, if you want to get the message out about a Green out, print it on the darn tickets when you send them out. Literally just print on the tickets "Wear green!" It's not like you don't know USC is going to be a big game, regardless of the dumpster fire they're in. It's a rivalry game!

I find it kind of funny the complaints given the HUGE changes and improvements in the stadium environment over the last decade. Give it time and the moneyed crowd will increasingly migrate to the boxes. https://athleticspremiumhospitality.nd.edu/football/seven-on-9-club-seats/

I mean USC seats are available for 7 on 9 box? That is absurd. Food and booze included.

Problem for the USC game is always that it hits on fall break week. Student section is not full force, campus not as buzzy as other games IMO.

I can’t see it for reasons I’ve stated before, but if it happens, the he really is a silver tongued devil.

I would be shocked...not surprised, but shocked...after the whole academic scandal why they would go after one of the most unethical coaches in the country. With the microscope the school is going to be under, this seems like a huge mistake for them.
