Can anyone direct me to the weekend/gameday festivities to attend? My 19 year old son is taking his girlfriend to her first ND game. They don't really know what to do when or where to go, but he wants her to see the cool traditions. She grew up a Michigan fan, going to all their games. My son wants to show her the ND stuff is cooler.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Aside from checking out the buildings, like the library/TD Jesus, the dome, the grotto, the Basilica, etc, I would check out the bagpipes that play at noonish at the dome (Check the sites guys listed above, I'm not 100% on the time and it may vary based on kickoff time). I personally love following the band as they play their way to the stadium, they also line up at the dome about an hour prior to kickoff. The later is one of my favorite traditions, I've been doing it for 30+ years. There's also the player walk which a lot of people like.
My other favorite tradition has changed, it used to be the Trumpets Under the Dome. They moved it outside though, presumably because of structural concerns from all the people that used to be inside for it. Now it's Trumpets At the Dome outside on the steps...which is still cool but not nearly as awesome since the acoustics are different.
I really wish they'd bring this back. This video is from 2010 and the crowd here wasn't anything like it was for some games in '15 and '18:
This is still cool, but not nearly the same energy. I got chills every time it was in the dome.
