John Brice mentioned this in a recent podcast. They are gearing him up for USC and then most likely 3 games down the stretch.

I’m excited to get him back because of his blocking and think he can make a difference in the stupid lepracat package they are running. Hopefully with his return they just scrap it and just run our RB behind him.
I really hope the focus is on this weekends game and they aren’t looking ahead. I know MFMF can’t wait to get Chode Bowden back in the building to beat the snot out of them but they need to go 1-0 this Saturday. Focus on Univ Spoiled Children starting on Sunday.

Can't you play 5 now?
Still only four regular season games (Plus any postseason games) Kids could theoretically play 8 games and still have it count as a redshirt year. 9 games if you're on a team that plays in a conference championship and goes to the natty.

That's got to be tough to come back from achilles injury and first game back you're asked to be battering ram blocking TE constantly pushing off that achilles. I'm sure they're testing him in practice, but man. I can't imagine he's going to be close to normal game 1.

Are you taking baby boy?
He's going to the tailgate but him and mom are heading back to bnb from there; he's still too little to probably stick around for the whole game, and it's absolutely criminal that they charge full ticket price for babies regardless if we hold him or not.

It'll be his second time on campus, but last year he was like 3 weeks old. Made the trek to SB for a funeral during the bye week last year. I can't wait to see his reactions, he loves to people watch.

I have a 18m old and a newborn. When looking at the ND kid policy I was shocked. Thinking about flying out next year and doing the same as you.

That's brutal. ND should be better about that.

Glad the young guy is getting to campus early though!

Can anyone direct me to the weekend/gameday festivities to attend? My 19 year old son is taking his girlfriend to her first ND game. They don't really know what to do when or where to go, but he wants her to see the cool traditions. She grew up a Michigan fan, going to all their games. My son wants to show her the ND stuff is cooler.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It would be a colossal waste of time trying to convince a Michigan fan that ND is cool. They’re simply not intelligent enough to understand.

Aside from checking out the buildings, like the library/TD Jesus, the dome, the grotto, the Basilica, etc, I would check out the bagpipes that play at noonish at the dome (Check the sites guys listed above, I'm not 100% on the time and it may vary based on kickoff time). I personally love following the band as they play their way to the stadium, they also line up at the dome about an hour prior to kickoff. The later is one of my favorite traditions, I've been doing it for 30+ years. There's also the player walk which a lot of people like.

My other favorite tradition has changed, it used to be the Trumpets Under the Dome. They moved it outside though, presumably because of structural concerns from all the people that used to be inside for it. Now it's Trumpets At the Dome outside on the steps...which is still cool but not nearly as awesome since the acoustics are different.

I really wish they'd bring this back. This video is from 2010 and the crowd here wasn't anything like it was for some games in '15 and '18:

This is still cool, but not nearly the same energy. I got chills every time it was in the dome.

Feel like they need to move on from Doeren. NC State has real potential IMO and he’s stagnated at a mediocre level. He’s at a 58% win % over his 12+ years there, which equals essentially 7-5. He’s only finished ranked 3 times. They should expect more IMO.

I'm not sure they should expect too much more, but his 0.572 win percentage is not far off from his 3 previous predecessors, who were all fired. Combine that with a sub .500 conference win rate, and this may be the year the plug is pulled.

If he plays four games, it has to be USC, NC State, Pitt and then I am open to whatever game. Stanford bc it is home state and could get him ready for playoffs

I can see how the ACC is down and CFB in the region is bad right now, so there is absolutely an opportunity for someone to establish dominance, but if you're a program like NC State who wants to win more, it seems to me the best options, when possible, are:

1) Pour money into NIL
2) Pour money into facilities, salaries, and support staff
3) Consider taking a chance on a new coach.

NC State is doing the thing a lot of other schools are: using football money to be good at not football.

- MBB Final Four + now hiring Will Wade
- WBB Final Four
- 2 CWS appearances
- ACC Championships in cross country, swimming, wrestling and gymnastics.

I would guess they need a fresh start. People have become “bored” with 8 win seasons by Doeren so now they’ll fall behind and fire him.

If they weren’t attached to UNC, what conference would NC State be in when the ACC crumbles?

On their own merit I feel like it would be American but they’ll probably get a nice landing spot because of UNC. Plus Boo Corrigan is the AD so ND could shuffle the deck in their favor

Apparently Doeren offered to retire in January? Yeah he's gone after this season

He's their winningest coach with 87 games. They have not won the ACC since 1979.

Everyone is looking for their own Curt Cignetti now, especially basketball schools, so I get it. Who are they going to get that's going to not only be better but come in and stay knowing there is a lack of football history and tradition here?

They started playing football 5 years after ND, had Lou Holtz and Monte Kiffin as head coaches, there’s definitely some history!

Not the greatest tradition. No finishes in the AP top 10. Overall just above .500 as a program and just under that in bowls.
