will be making the trip and will be my 8 year old's 1st ND game....sadly enough he told me we need to bench tranquil and coleman because they can't tackle...that's an 8 year olds perspective

Troy Pride will play Saturday. BK also wants more Mokwuah and Fertita.

Per Pete Sampson via BK radio show.

I personally expect to see a lot of Dexter Williams, Donte Vaughn, and D. Hayes. Guys at II say Bilal will probably play a lot more this weekend based on matchup.

Fertita Huh? Hmm....

Either kid doesn't miss tackles or Dad's money matters.

Interesting. Is this the first action for Pride?

He may possess that edge most of our D lacks.

That's what I'm thinking.

As for Mowkuah, I wonder if that's a sign ND will be spending more time in 3-4 sets. I wonder how Jarron and Tillery would play as SDEs (Rochell on weak side). My feeling is Tillery won't be great at setting the edge but putting him in that position would force him to play a bit more physically instead of just shooting gaps. Plus the WDEs we've used have been a waste of space on first and second downs.

I wouldn't mind playing in a role similar to 2014 Farley.

I figured that's the role he was recruited for...

Use that big-hitting ability as a nickle against teams that like to primarily run the ball out of 3-WR sets.

as long as he avoids getting another stupid penalty....also of note....It's going to be raining BEFORE the game and potentially during this....certainly have to think this would favor ND as Kizer and company have played during a hurricane

Watch ND put something like 9 straight quarters without allowing a touchdown together...

I wouldn't mind seeing a line up like this

SDE: J Hayes
T: Rochell
NG: Cage
WDE: D Hayes/Kareem

S: Tranguill (plays good close to the line)
M: Morgan
W: JWalls

CB: Luke (29 game starter has to come out of his funk)
SS: Elliot
FS: Studstill
CD: Vaughn

edit: forgot to put Kareem

Kizer looks good but considering Kelly talked at length about 1) defensive players getting too many snaps (specifically a Studstill wiff on his 67th play), and 2) wanting to reassert Adams/Williams in the run game, I think Kelly is going to try to run the ball early and often.

Agreed!

Syracuse is way spookier than Duke was. That's for sure.

This is a game where Crawford would have been ideal.

Agreed. But. What do you think about Vaughn locked to their number one receiver the whole time he is in? Vaugh has the size to combat this kid. What say you?

Also, did anyone else see BK's presser, yesterday?

Did my ears and eyes deceive me, or did BK acknowledge that not only was the defense too complex (there it is official), but that in many of the same ways the offense was too complex, as well?

I honestly, just about shit myself. He talked about it simplifying the qb and rb's job, but didn't he allude to more, like eliminating some of the decision making for offensive linemen with that particularly funky version of zone blocking? And didn't he admit that it took too long, and telegraphed what the ND offense was going to do?

I mean he said something like you couldn't prep for everything, and then he sort of rambled about whether it was better to be 75% prepared with your guys playin 100%, or 100% prepared with your guys playing 75%, or less.

If Kelly really means it, and fixes this, I am betting the house on the next couple of Irish games!

I mean, I was half joking but in all seriousness ND did put a run like that together in 2012.....

Your point is well taken. Instead of just playing even keeled (which is boring, right?) We ND fans are cursed to love a team whose defense goes gallantly down the shitter, only to be resurrected, breathing fire with the same talent, with less expected of them!

I would rather have Coney at W and James O at S. Tranquill has struggled with wrapping up.

First play, multiple penalties from the kid with the MMA family background.

Referee: "Illegal contact. Number 28. Zenkutsu elbow thrust to the halfback. Oi-wamatsu roundhouse lunge kick to the quarterback. Tekatami hand sword block to the.. never mind, first down."

Great movie! How many time outs do we have? Can we take them all now?

I'm interested to see how the team responds. My friend says every game coming out of the tunnel they look flat, and I agree.
If they look fired up coming out, it's a good sign, if not we're looking at 1-4.

wait... playing "fired up" is going to help them correct their abysmal technique and poor tackling?

sounds fun, but i'm not seeing it.

this whole "fired up" movement is just to keep them from flat out quitting on the season.

i'm really not expecting much from the defense tomorrow, and neither should you... ;)

we should all just hope for flying around, smiles and jump fives ..... ?

I literally just realized this game is at noon tomorrow.

I figured it would be at 8pm because it's at MetLife.

Wow...we stink.

Honestly, that hasn't really been the case this season. Last week, we jumped out to a 14-0 lead. We could do no wrong offensively or defensively. And then they returned a KO back for 6 and all went to shit.

THAT has been the problem. This team allows things to snowball way too often.

At least it didn't get kicked off of ESPN for the weekly, shitty noon B1G game?
