If we are smart we RTDB and make the game short. I am not convinced their d can match up with our TEs though. I think rtdb and play action short passing game , move the chains and kill the clock is out best shot.
The weird thing is, as II and The shamrock mentioned, Book hasn't been great at play action the past couple weeks.

Clemson -5.5 and the under look like easy money. BC seemed to have the most success going over the top to loosen up Clemson and get some points. Would have been the most BC thing ever to take our backup QB to knock off a #1 but instead they did the 2nd most BC thing and pissed off Clemson one week before we get them.

BC also had a circus deflected TD catch - Clemson already victim of a few flukes to keep opponent in the game probably doesn't give up similar plays to us this week.

If we win I think we are more opportune with TOs even if we don't win the TO battle. We need 10 or more easy points set up by the D, IMO. Can we bottle up Etienne without getting gashed in the air? Can the offense move the ball enough to keep our D fresh? Ugh - going to be a long Saturday.

Alright watching the second half of the Clemson BC game now. The ball absolutely explodes off DJ's arm. I'm honestly way more concerned about Etienne as a pass catcher out of the backfield than as a runner. I think JOK basically needs to shadow him all game. I think our defensive backfield is going to have to have an incredible game. I think our ability to rush the passer is going to be less important because the QB has such a quick trigger I don't think it will matter.

My 'Friend' - f-it, my 'Betting Partner' put $800 on the under, $1k on Clemson, $1k on Arkansas (spread) for tri-fecta.....

Last year he was 86% on odds.....

He told me I would be a fool not to follow him. He lives in Reno....

Sellout shut down Etienne, make Ukelele move it on man CB coverage which sets him up for Hamilton to come snag it. I wanna see some exotic blitz's from JOK and Kiser too.

Keep Simon on the bench unless Kiser asks for a breather and even then, bring in Lamb.

Has SS been that bad?

It's not that he's been bad, it's that he doesn't stick out. He's not a ballhawk.

There's little doubt he's doing the stuff away from the ball that Lea wants. If he wasn't he'd be on the bench already. I just want a tackling machine at BUCK.

Agreed. Give Simon & Lufau another year to work on their game but they leave little to be desired at this point. They’ll get better.

I'm far less concerned with Liufau. He's rangy and storms to the ball, he just needs to fine tune his assignment awareness.

I think Mike and Jamie on ISD summed it up perfectly re: Simon. He reacts, he doesn't attack.

With Liufau and Kiser, I see mistakes and inconsistencies, but I also see them being done out of inexperience and they always appear to go for the ball and attack. Simon seems too busy with thinking.

I just listened to the Clemson Pawcast and just gotta say brother we are spoiled. The ND podcasts are so numerous and generally good. These guys were woefully uneducated on ND. “Ken Hamilton” lol.

Listened to II podcast yesterday. Evidently, BK got pissed at Lou Somogyi for asking a question around this game being a “measuring stick” game. WTH is wrong w/ asking that & why didn’t BK embrace it vs acting like it’s just another game b/c if they turn around and lose to BC it doesn’t matter?

It does matter. Even if ND turns around & loses to BC in a hangover game, ND needs to win a big game on the national stage. Even w/ the backup QB leading the opponent b/c the national pundits are still expecting ND to fold.

This year is a great example of why this week’s game is a must-win. While crazy stuff can still happen amid COVID, it’s widely accepted that this year is Bama, Clemson, tOSU and then a huge drop-off in talent. That means if chalk holds and those 3 make the CFP, the 4th team would have to beat TWO elite teams to claim the CFP.

ND claims it wants to win NC. If they believe they can go from beating average to below-average teams to magically knocking off two elites, they’re delusional. ND must prove they can knock off an elite at least once....to even sniff the CFP.

If ND shits the bed yet again on the national stage , I agree w/ Pete Sampson when he asked “What are we doing here?”. For context, Sampson, Prister & O’Malley all three expect ND to compete similarly to how they did vs UGA last year. Pete’s point was there’s no excuse for ND not at least “showing up” and if they implode, it’s fair to ask the question.

I loved this podcast. Everyone should listen to it (it’s free if you don’t know). It echoed what most of us say here. Also Kelly needed to be called out for that response. Prister was legit pissed. Bush league response from Kelly, especially responding to Lou who is pretty revered.

It was the Pawcast. I haven’t found anything good on their boards. They think they are playing 2010 ND with no team speed. I have literally seen “big slow and white” like 5 times. Nothing worth reading or listening to yet. Maybe (probably) the paysites have better content.

"ND is not a Top 4 team"
"ND fans hate Ian Book, they'd prefer Jurkovec"
"They run a 3-4"
"Ken Hamilton"
"BK does not make adjustments, is not flexible"
"They've been playing a lot of ACC teams"
"We (Clemson) will win fairly easily...2/3 scores"
"Could be a comfortable win"

I just want to make sure, Clemson did almost lose to BC last weekend, right?

Pretty bold statements lol

Yes you are right. O’Malley & Sampson actually counted. But why condescend & be bitchy w/ a guy like Somogyi? He’s one of the deans of ND beat writers and always deals in “just the facts”. You don’t hear Lou get snarky or confrontational w/ BK or previous ND coaches. He’s like the nerd on the Bad News Bears....knows all the facts & figures & wouldn’t hurt a fly. Is BK that thin-skinned? After shitting the bed in every national spotlight game against an elite team since OU in ‘12, shouldn’t he know these questions are coming? In the 29-3 run, how many of those teams ended up ranked...Navy? Still a great run b/c you can’t control your opponents but sooner or later you have to address why you can’t win games like these.

Yes, yet the AP kept them at #1 which is good for ND as far as esthetics. To go further, it would’ve been better for Clemson to roll BC but now they’ve likely laid their seasonal one egg. They likely looked at that close win as a loss and are now more focused on ND.

Keep in mind their true freshman back up QB didn’t learn he would be starting vs BC until Thursday of last week. Now he’s got an entire week to prepare. It’s only one data point but if he can look poised and not confused by an opposing defense w/ a few days to prepare, I wouldn’t assume that ND being a better D automatically equals that they will confuse & stress this kid when he’s had twice as long to prepare. Hope Lea can keep him off balanced but it won’t be easy.

And if we are making sure, ND did almost lose to UL a few weekends ago, so we can all agree that good teams can fall into a trap game. The thing about Clemson is they do it every year, yet they win when it counts against impressive opponents including two CFP NCs. In other words, they’ve earned the benefit of the doubt. ND has not.

Did he not? Yikes, they had some rookies like Mentock & Engel get to ask questions so you know that had to hurt the old ego. Engel is probably a nice kid but I cannot listen to his 24 year old version of Ben Stein. Wish they’d put Goolsby or Goolsby’s pod partner w/ Somogyi.

All those teams were in the final rankings? Scratch that, I know scUM was b/c I remember them getting blasted by UF in their bowl game. Thanks for the correction!
