All I know is that if Marcus Freeman shared similar views on NIL/portal as Dabo, this board would be burning.

He’s stuck in his ways and it might get detrimental to his career.
You dont think hes aware allowing transfers would help him?

He stands against it and actually walks the walk, knowing it will work against him. Your point makes it even more admirable that he follows through.

Again, people around here would be pissed if Freeman refused to use the portal to their advantage.

Standing against it isn’t going to get him anywhere. I bet if the NFL or Alabama came calling, Dabo would leave tomorrow. So there’s no difference in coaches leaving and kids transferring.

No one's arguing fans would be mad. This entire topic is about his character though, and it's anything but a slight against his character that he's willing to say "i dont believe it's good for football and I won't do it".

You can be upset with his coaching decision and measure his character on the side. They're very mutually exclusive

Look at the links I gave above. Last year their total donors to IPTAY was 22k-ish and only raised $40 mil that will be split up over several areas not specific to just football. They only made $1m in profit TOTAL

Truth is Clemson grads aren’t going out all over the nation. They stay in SC and most do not donate regularly or are they financially able to donate regularly. Most Clemson fans didn’t even attend the school
It's interesting. I live in Massachusetts and see a surprising number of Clemson window decals, sweatshirts, etc. I'm guessing they, like some other Southern state schools (Bama for instance), have upped their recruiting in the Northeast to draw more affluent, out-of-state tuition paying families. But, it takes awhile for that to translate into big donations for NIL.

I guess I wasnt aware of the potential that people in the northeast would be drawn to coming to Clemson for school but it is a great campus and very good architectural and engineering school. I guess its not surprising.... NE retirees and young Pensyltuckians have been invading the coast here for a few decades though...Coastal Carolina is essentially a Ohio State satellite campus. LOL

It's quite annoying, isn't it? We had three top-ten teams on our schedule pre-season and we might end up with only two ranked teams at the end of it. (and that's assuming Riley Leonard can come back and Duke doesn't totally collapse)

But also think college football teams change so much even from week to week that I would not discount the difficulty of our path. (even if other people will be like: "Your best wins went 8-4."

Ohio State was a heavyweight fight, even if their offense isn't lights-out this year.
Duke's a tough well-coached team. If Leonard doesn't go down in the 3rd quarter that FSU game last night is a lot closer than it wound up looking.
Louisville is pretty mid but dangerous enough. That night they played out of their minds and we were (understandably) running on fumes.
We broke USC and now all the good Pac-12 teams will feast on their wreckage. It's not our fault.
Never underestimate Clemson.

Or you could be, like, Michigan. Everyone pumping sunshine up your ass and eight weeks in your best win is... Rutgers?
At home of course!

saw this comment and immediately thought it was a pure BK move lol. Klubnik is gonna transfer at season end for sure
Seems like Klubnik overrided the intended call. Pretty ballsy move for a kid to usurp the coach. Looking at the replay I bet he saw the edge crash down on the line and thought he could keep it and run the edge but the LB caught him. I still cant believe the initial call was to rush from shotgun....OMG go jumbo and push it in.

I appreciate the clarity...

It is impossible to plan for ACC games. So f-ing rude to the fans. I get it, Clemson fans have nothing better to do but if you are trying to visit someplace, especially someplace BFE like Clemson, you need to plan months in advance. Not days.

On the other hand, maybe this is how ND should operate to combat all the opposing fan bases taking over SB.

Lucky did you watch the Duke vs FSU game? Duke was the better team for 3 quarters, until Riley Leonard went out. Duke was winning at half time and at the end of the 3rd quarter. Once Leonard went out midway through the third quarter the Duke offense couldn’t move the ball. They couldn’t even get a first down. Their defense just wore down due to being on the field to long. FSU’s really good offense broke the game open in 4th because of injury to Leonard. Duke would have been up 20-10 at halftime if their coverage team didn’t allow a 99 yard kickoff return.

Duke with Leonard is a good team. A top 20 team no doubt. And Dukes defense is salty.

As for FSU I don’t think they are great. I think Miami or Florida could pick them off. I also think Notre Dame would beat them 6 or 7 times out of 10.
Not really the point whether they were the slightly better team or not. The point is, college football is a free for all of average to good teams. Unlikely any elite teams and certainly none on our schedule. Every team that we played over this "daunting" stretch has either since lost or hasn't looked very good winning (OSU).

But, yes, I did watch some of it.

This is why they play 4 quarters. Riley was actually play ass football up to that point. Like, really fucking bad football. 43.75% comp pct, 4.3 yds/att. No TD's and 1 INT. He only had 1 rush for 13 yards. And while I realize the injury can impact the game. And, how a struggling offense can hurt a defense. The defense still gave 420 yards. 4.8 yds/carry. Travis still had 75% comp pct and 7.4 yds/att only slightly below his season average. That's not a salty defense at all. You’re going to lose a lot of games when a QB completes 75% of his passes, averages 7.4yds/att, while also allowing 4.8 yds/carry. Lastly, ST’s is part of the game. In fact, it's part of every football game. We can excuse away just about everything if we try hard enough.

Thing is, if he hands it off as intended he probably scores. The TE is cracking back on the DE that is crashing and the line push was okay on the right and likely has one guy to beat for 1 yard. But the LB clearly was playing QB run and didn't even budge at the play fake. Terrible read by the QB.

Too bad its 30 miles away from Clemson - 43 minutes the fastest route on a good day. Wonder what that drive is like after a football game? I don't want a 30 mile drive to find civilization after a football game that may or may not kick off some time between noon and 7:30PM when I have to commit to the ticket. That's the difference between needing a hotel Friday night or needing a hotel Saturday night in Greenville or Charlotte, or not at all. Have you ever been backed up on the Indiana Tollway after a game?

It’s not bad getting from Clemson to Greenville after a game, there’s two options.

No one is moving to Indiana and tons of people are moving to the Carolina’s, because of cities like Greenville.

That’s actually not true. There’s quite a bit of migration to Indiana from Illinois and Michigan, especially. The Indianapolis and Fort Wayne areas especially continue to see record growth from both in-state and out-of-state residents. US News had SC 10th, but Indiana wasn’t too far behind at 19th. Additionally, there’s some huge battery production plants coming to central Indiana in the coming years.

O I thought most EV battery makers were non Union and the Stellantis plants coming were non Union. Guess I understood that to be part of the UAW’s complaints during the strike.
My understanding is most factories dealing with EV are union… I could be wrong
