Nah. Let them lose both. Make it a noon kick and the Clemson crowd as disinterested as possible
I mean ideally I want it to mean as much as possible to help us get an at large for a NY6 bowl

The podcasts this week were very wait a minute maybe not about it
FWIW, The Athletic picked us to miss the NY6. There aren't that many at-large bids for us, and if Michigan, OSU and Penn State all go 11-1, they'll eat up two of them. We probably need Penn State and LSU to both lose another.

Best thing Golden can do is crowd the box force then to throw play one on one they can’t run

There's actually more at-large NY6 bids this year than most years.

The playoff bowl games this year are the Rose and Sugar Bowls, which normally have 4 conference tie-ins. The Rose has Pac-12 and Big Ten, the Sugar has Big XII and SEC.

That means, the remaining NY6 are the Cotton (At large vs. At large), Fiesta (At-large vs. At-large), Orange (ACC vs. SEC/Big-Ten/ND) and Peach Bowl (At large vs. At large).

Ah, OK. Well, they still had us playing Ole Miss in the Reliaquest Bowl, while Penn State and Ohio State went to NY6s. Fuck that noise.

We'll see if Clemson has any pride. As if it wasn't already, this game is now their Super Bowl.

I hope it's a night game. ND needs continued exposure while the other teams/games/rivals heat up. We're approaching the best season of CFB where ND games become boring from a national perspective.

Our travel challenges are behind us so who cares if it's at night.

I’d be surprised if this was a night game
Looking at the slate of games...

SEC has Mizzou v. Georgia and Alabama v. LSU. So, pencil one of those for 3:30 on CBS and the other probably for the ESPN night game.

We know ND is on ABC. I am not sure how the other coverage details work out but ESPN/ABC would also potentially have Bedlam and Washington v. USC.

CBS would be nuts not to put Bama-LSU in the nighttime slot.
As for ABC, Notre Dame and Clemson are two of the bigger TV draws around. No one outside Oklahoma is really that into Bedlam. USC-Washington would've be a bigger game and Heisman faceoff but now...
I'd bet (and hope) its our game.

Was at the Miami/Clemson game last night.

You guys are massively overrating the Tigers. Clemson has no skill talent to speak of beyond Shipley, who's a nice player - but not someone that can be a gamewrecker by himself.

Miami was down their starting QB and played a true freshman. Despite that, and even though they stacked the box, Miami imposed their will on Clemson the entire second half, and the Tigers only had something like 30 yards rushing.

This is not the Clemson from 2015-2020. They're 3-5 in their last 8 against Power 5 opponents, and 5-6 in their last 11 games. They're a completely different program without Venables, Dabo is a cuck, and I expect Notre Dame to be favored by 4-6 points.

Let's not forget we were 5-3 going into the Clemson game last year (with losses to Stanford and Marshall). They might have the exact same record when we play in a couple weeks.

I hope we don't take them too lightly. This is still the toughest game left on the schedule (by far)

Why do ppl hate Dabo again?

Because he doesn't like NIL, practices what he preaches against the transfor portal to his own demise, likes Jesus, and is overly complimentary of ND in every post game presser?
Some people are jealous of success

This schedule and last years signature win is just not what it was billed to be. Those two top ten wins at home are to this Clemson program. And, now 2 loss USC team that will could fall outside the top 25 of FEI’s ratings one week after us beating them. OSU continues to look like an extremely beatable contender. Nowhere near the elite status of years last. Duke loses big to a legitimate contender. And Louisville loses to fucking Pitt one week after they ended our playoff hopes.

Exactly. This year was a prime opportunity to do something big without there being at least 1 or 2 dominant teams on the landscape. That doesn’t happen very often, and unfortunately this team did not take advantage of it.

I agree, in a vacuum the wins over Clemson and USC aren't that great, but they're important for momentum and recruiting.

OSU is beatable but they keep winning, which is what good teams do. It's a cliche, but it's hard to win in college football. That's why only 1-2 teams usually go undefeated during the regular season.

And I still think Duke is a very good team. They had a legitimate chance to beat FSU on the road until their QB got hurt again

It's quite annoying, isn't it? We had three top-ten teams on our schedule pre-season and we might end up with only two ranked teams at the end of it. (and that's assuming Riley Leonard can come back and Duke doesn't totally collapse)

But also think college football teams change so much even from week to week that I would not discount the difficulty of our path. (even if other people will be like: "Your best wins went 8-4."

Ohio State was a heavyweight fight, even if their offense isn't lights-out this year.
Duke's a tough well-coached team. If Leonard doesn't go down in the 3rd quarter that FSU game last night is a lot closer than it wound up looking.
Louisville is pretty mid but dangerous enough. That night they played out of their minds and we were (understandably) running on fumes.
We broke USC and now all the good Pac-12 teams will feast on their wreckage. It's not our fault.
Never underestimate Clemson.

Or you could be, like, Michigan. Everyone pumping sunshine up your ass and eight weeks in your best win is... Rutgers?
