I think of that as insurance. I've done it. I put $20 on the Lions to beat my Packers earlier this month. I really don't bet with my heart, i bet with my head. Packers were beat up and playing the best team in the NFC, a team you really need to be at full strength against and still play your best.

I only bet on Nd when I feel good about it. Saturday was one of those days. Army had the second weakest SOS in the entire nation. -14.5 was an utter joke.

Remotely good teams dont lose those games anywhere. Maybe a fluke game like ND has but that many times is a reflection of hiw good you are, or aren’t

100% this. We want to beat our chests saying we should be a playoff contender but are anxious about a .500 team that can’t beat flippin’ Maryland??? Good teams don’t sweat victims of the mighty Terps. Great teams treat them as weeks of. So who is ND?

Maybe the line reflects the pressure the committee feels to get 4 SEC teams in, and a loss to USC helps that cause.

You know, Freeman has been in contact with Holtz since he took over the job, and he's borrowed a few things. I wonder if one of them is testing the freshmen and new coaches on the history of ND and USC to get them ready for the game? I mentioned this in our Louisville group chat earlier today:

I’m not concerned about USC as years past. It’s a rivalry game, but the team plays well on the road and MF has the team focused. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Irish blow them out of the stadium.

Being honest with myself while looking into this USC season, they really are a few bounces away from being a good team. Highly doubt we are going to feel very comfortable throughout the game until the clock say zeros.
