The silver lining to them beating the crap out of us BK's first year is that I don't think BK will ever try to treat them nice again. Weis never understood that despite their service they are the enemy when we are on the field. BK understands that now, and has no problem running up the score on them.

Really righteous and relevant, bro!

Football Outsiders' Bill Connelly just published his 2013 preview of Navy:

This program has come a long way since it was going 3-30 from 2000-'02. The margin for error has shrunk as the team has regressed, and the Midshipmen did need a late fumble recovery to win their 11th straight over Army last December (and some close-games luck to make a bowl).

But the offense will have an exciting face (Keenan Reynolds') for the next three years, and while the schedule is rather daunting in spots (at least, for a team that might struggle to crack the F/+ Top 90), I'm going to assume that Navy makes another bowl, if just barely, in 2013. But to get to six wins, the Midshipmen might very well need to win a 12th straight Army game. You know, in case the stakes for that game needed to be raised any higher.

Other than some cheap injury, this is the game that I'm least worried about. Diaco knows how to play this gimmick now, and the guys are even better than last year. If Navy scores a touchdown in the first three quarters [offensively] I'll be very surprised.

We never know about our offense, but with Everett running around all over his backfield and our receiving corps of "6'5" giraffes" finally getting open [in the airspaces 9 to 10 feet high], we should score a few touchdowns anyway.

Nix destroys the dive; Shembo and Spond destroy most of the option; USN has to pass; Tuitt and Day have lunch. Russell, Jackson, and Grace all have picks. Grace makes 15 tackles.

IE posters have civilized conversations during actual game time. Gripes continue from certain negative-deprived posters about the kick return game. Brindza blows his only punt.

Chicago Tribune and ESPN scramble maniacally to spin some ugly BS about something connected with Notre Dame. And Universe returns to normalcy.

Former starting quarterback Miller dismissed from the Naval Academy - CapitalGazette.com: Navy Sports

By Bill Wagner, Capital Gazette News

At this time last year, Trey Miller was on top of the world — having secured the starting quarterback job for the Navy football team. So much has changed for Miller since then.
Miller lost his starting job to freshman Keenan Reynolds midway through the 2012 season then switched to slotback during spring practice. Now the youngster from Georgia is no longer at the Naval Academy.
The Capital has learned that Miller, who would have been a senior during the 2013-2014 academic year, has been dismissed from the academy. Multiple sources said Miller was separated for an honors violation related to academics. He is not one of the three former or current football players recently charged with rape.
“We can confirm that Midshipman Miller is no longer enrolled at the U.S. Naval Academy,” said Commander John Schofield, public affairs officer at the Naval Academy. “Midshipman Miller’s disenrollment was determined through internal administrative proceedings. Midshipmen are afforded privacy in these proceedings and details are not releasable.”

Depends. I looked this up a couple of days ago regarding the sexual assault case. If I recall correctly:

If you "resign"in the first two years you're free to go providing your resignation was attachted to a conviction. If so you do the jail time.

After two years, you become an enlisted man and get to pay back your education (up to $150K).

However, SECNAV can waive that at his discretion "for the good of the service".

That came from a USNA website. I don't know if those waivers are routine or rare.

Similar to Golson and ND, an honor code violation withdrawal at USNA isn't optional for the student.

TIFWIW, on the USNA message there was a post that this was his third infraction.

Got field level seats section 17 for this game ... anyone ever sat in the field level seats? Anything noteworthy? Assuming it's right behind the Navy band.

FL17 is a fun section. Very hard to see what is going on in the game but a really cool experience. We usually sit there a few times a year in Row A. Your feet are literally right in the endzone. We have had players run/fall into us.

It's really going to depend on how the game goes. I had field level seating in the same section several years ago for a Syracuse game. It was frickin' cold as balls, and as luck would have it almost all the action occurred at the other end of the stadium for most of the game. It was one of the worst games I ever saw imo. I don't expect that to happen at Navy, but you never know.

You just happened to be at one of the worst games at ND in the last 10 years, I don't know if that is a fair judgement of the seats.

It was just an example really. I would argue that some games are very up and down however in the action. For example...the 2010 USC game in Southern Cal. There was plenty of action at the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters for us, but the rest of the game it was pretty quiet. As a result a lot of our action and scoring ended up at one end of the field. For that reason I prefer getting seats as close to the 50 yard line as possible as you're guaranteed to see the most action there, even if you're the furthest away from any scores. To each their own though, some people would rather be on top of scoring plays.

our seats are sect 21 about half way up. The endzone you speak of (USC) was a great game to sit there. Some games you see about nothing but I still got my view of TD Jesus. I wouldn't trade that for the world.

To each their own :) Like I said, I prefer to be as close to the 50 as I can get in the event that one team is dominating a quarter and all the action ends up at the other end of the field. It can be feast or famine if you're in the right or wrong spot. I can always see TD Jesus up close after the win, I'm there for the action.

YES! Field Level rocks! My first ever ND game I sat there, and saw My Fightin' Irish beat #15 Utah, under the reigns of Tommy Rees in his first start of his career. The view isn't that great, but you are 10 feet from the back of the endzone and goal posts. You can walk on the field behind the endzone and take pictures. It's too cool!

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150345977160377&l=0c41e889bc that's a view from the seat if you click on it...

Back in the early to mid seventies, I sold game programs while in high school. Would see the amount that I owed, then would enter the stadium to settle my account. My profit programs I would sell inside the stadium, and then I would stay for the game.
I believe it was the '73 or '74 USC game....Eric Penick busted a 85 yarder for TD in 3rd quarter. Sitting in the endzone, he ran right into my arms. Walked away with that football, have it still. That video ran for years on ESPN.
Another game, got photos with USC cheerleaders; also came away with Alabama cheerleader jacket from their visit to ND stadium.

I think we should win this game, but just bringing up the fact that it isn't an automatic pencil in. They have a quarterback that just went off on the ground, and only threw the ball 4 times.
