pretty glad ND dosen't play Navy this week tbh

Why? It is not like Michigan could run on us. We are still pretty stout against the run. There is a difference between an option QB and a scrambling QB.

You guys would fear a DII school right now since we are coming off of a loss. This will be another blow out.

I just feel like the defense needs to get its house in order first. Preparing for Navy is a totally different kettle of fish. Playing Purdue will allow them play a much more "regular" game and correct the mistakes from the SCUM game.

Scalping shouldn't be an issue, right lads? Flying in to the Second City on Friday and hooked up with a bus tailgate Saturday... one year anniversary

Please stand up, please be loud.

No problem there. Last year at the Purdue game, I got stuck behind a couple old guys who didn't understand why Golson looked back to the sideline for an audible and got scolded for yelling so much. I just laughed and yelled even harder the next defensive snap :)

So why did Golson look back to the sideline for an audible and was scolded for yelling so much?

That is an example of a public education.

It should have read 'back to the sideline for an audible, and I got scolded for yelling so much'

I might need to score two tickets for this game. Are there any good sources, beyond the tickets sites like Stub Hub and ebay? I'd like something outside of the end zone, but otherwise not too picky.

Also, what are upper deck end zone seats like? Might have a shot at tix there?

USC tix came available twice this week thru the ticket office and I saw 2 different pair on Stubhub for 100 each ticket. If the USC game had those available, I'm sure there should be for this game.

Per Sagarin's Predictor Model ND should be about a 16.5 point favorite over Navy.

I'd like to see Cam and Folston get the majority of carries from here on out starting with this game. Overall I'm excited by all of the freshmen contributing and excelling. Despite the naysayers it's proof that the program is headed in the right direction.

Irish just need to take care of business, one game at a time. Play smart, limit turnovers/penalties, take advantage of mismatches, and hopefully get out without injuries. Seems they have been adding up on us, especially with the front seven on D.

And come into the game with the right game planning. (Maybe a new first.)

You are setting up a picture in my mind.

I am juxtaposing the initial irritation that turned into sort of an Eagle Scout helping look last week, and the kind of deer in the headlight look one would expect when something that big escapes by accident!

Oh my! I would be laughing if it weren't all so sad.

Brian Kelly's AFA post-game press conference.

And the whole '13 season for that matter. Saying a team is a second half, or second and third quarter team and closes games out, or whatever is great. But my question is, is that just a way to say that the team is deficient in the first quarter. And is the only reason it is deficient because of planning?

I still don't understand what so many people were complaining about after the game last Saturday. I thought we played very well.

No, it is simple. A major college head coach basically admitted that he and his staff entered a game against a unique opponent without making an adaptive changes for that opponent in that game.

Wrong blocking scheme. How many time has that happened this year? Could that be the basis of the running game woes?

Wrong defensive scheme for option football. Automatic checks that were in place over rode game preps. OLB taking the quarterback, pitch man and having contain is less than optimal. Go figure!

So it wasn't how good or bad the game went; it was the magnitude of the head coach admitting this in a comment as a muse, two thirds of the way through the season.

I have been as critical of Kelly as many people on here, but I guess that just doesn't get my panties into a twist. There were some issues early defending the option, and then adjustments were made and all was well. I don't have a problem staying in a base D when you are bigger, stronger, and faster than the team you are playing. As the game goes, make the adjustments depending on what you see. Those are my two cents though, and I am sure that it has been debated both ways ad nausea on here already.

Yeah. What I have gathered from the presser was the initial plan made Jaylon responsible for the field side containment and it was a bad idea, which was why he looked like he was struggling. They adjusted after the first drive, brought the CBs down for containment and moved Jaylon further inside and was able to play more cover 2 as well. BK was also surprised on how much man-man coverage AFA was playing on D. Really surprised. So they took advantage of it. Big gist of the post game talk and presser was that ND took a shot in the face and a morale busting FG block and turned around and scored the next 45 of 48 points. I am fine with that. LOL

Not really. I appreciate your perspective.

My only question, how many of our eight games have we not spotted some to the opponent? Temple?

And of those eight games, who weren't we two touchdowns better than, only UM and OU. What if we had been ready for them?

So the question is that now, after a 16-2 regular season record over the last two years, is "is the coaching staff incompetent?".
