Our offense is like the opposite of what Kelly ran in Cincinnati and what Oregon runs. Nobody takes more time off the clock lol. Yeah, I know Kelly has already said that it's different circumstances here. He's said that at Cincinnati he had to put butts in the seats, at Notre Dame they have the tickets, they just need to win.

At some point I'd like us to hurry things up a bit. We got to see the hurry up in a few games like the end of Pitt and Purdue. Sometimes I think we get into these long drives, and theres so much time between plays we end up stalling in the red zone. Not to mention the opponent's defense isn't really sucking wind, they have plenty of time between plays to catch their breath and substitute. Yeah, I know, "10-0." I love it, just a little worried if this offense is going to cut it against a team in a bowl. Need to clean up the rash of recent turnovers too and get more back into the takeaways collumn.

I agree with PSUhater, our offense is improving. It's not good yet, but it's better than it was at the beginning of the season for sure.

I see improvement with Golson and TJ. He has really shown some growth IMO. The play calling again last night was retarded at times. These are the game we need to come out and blow them away go that Brown and Neal get more playing time. Those 2 are game changers.

This offense is terrible about getting the plays to the huddle. You have to blame Kelly for that because no matter what we are aren't improving on it. It maybe 50/50 Golson and Kellys fault but they are aren't improving it. Every week we burn a time out because the play not getting to the huddle. After watching bama yeaterday this offense can not beat them.

In the first half during the long drives Golson was getting the snap off with 10 seconds or more on the play clock. The plays were being called and the ball snapped, bang bang.

In the second half ND was running the clock to zero. I assumed it was by design to milk the clock but the offense was struggling regardless.

This game could have easily been blown open but turnovers on our part and missed calls on fumbles scooped up by Ishaq;) kept the score lower. These are things that need to be cleaned up. Even so it doesn't matter our beloved Domers are 10 and 0!!!! Everything else is just filler. I was thinking 9-3 this year so I have to eat my crow but in reality this team has exceeded all my expectations and turned me into a greedy SOB! Haha! I want the title!!!

It seemed that way to me, too. Likewise I would have though they had a lot more yards of Total Offense. They started out like gangbusters in the first Q. Then Diaco adjusted. After we went up 21-3 it seemed like they had the ball a lot longer but they only had it for 1 minute more than ND in the second half.

BC did have the ball a lot longer in the second half. After ND's opening 4 minute TD drive BC had the ball for 17 of the last 26 minutes. They ran 42 plays to ND's 19 (which includes the victory formation). After the third TD never ran more than 6 plays in a drive or gained more than 22 Yds on a drive.

ND's offense looked improved for the first 4 possessions, 3TD's and a strip. The second half O was reminescent of Davie/Colletto/Willingham/Rodgers ... sputter, sputter, sputter. That's not improvement, that's regression.

Kelly: Likes that ND has played tough schedule. "We're tested" also like the way QB is developing.

Kelly: I like where we are on defense. It was BC's first game without scoring a TD this year.

Kelly: Each team has distinctions. Our tm is best scoring defense in the country. Championship defense makes us feel strong.

Kelly: They tried to attack Manti specifically. He was 1/11th of the defense. Didn't try to do more.

Kelly: Stretch play w/Golson requires skill & repetition. Wasn't comfortable early on, but I am now.

What is the fascination with a hurry up spread? Bama won a championship with a very pedestrian pro-style system. Auburn the year before ran a spread but not a hurry up, and LSU the year before that ran a conventional system. I don't see value in playing outside of your strength for the sake of saying you did it.

At the same time I think Kelly is prepping for USC. With their ability to score almost at will, the long, sustained 8 minute drives can be the difference in winning and losing.

Was it "pretty" last night, no, but we scored on two of our three first half possessions, shortened the game and forced BC to execute perfectly with pressure knowing that we could go 10 to 15 plays and be patient and grind out a drive. There is more to be said about that then we have really given Kelly credit for.
