Is it really plausible to think we could get Treggs and Agholor? I know they wouldn't be playing the same receiver position necessarily, but I worry about compromising our chances with Nelson in any way.

I think it depends on the chronology. If Treggs verbals and Nelson does later, I think we take both. If it is the inverse, I think the outcome could be different. Just my opinion though. It also depends on how we how many overall spots we have filled in the time between and where the staff feels they are with some high profile recruits after this weekend.

I agree.

Treggs is a great player in his own right, but Agholor is just so much more explosive.

Not sure I agree with this reading. I thought he might be saying that the people trashing him are "fake" Cal fans, in that they are posing as Cal fans to try to drive him away from Cal. At a minimum, his meaning isn't clear to me.

IMO I think Whiskey got it right ----

Bryce is committed to CAL but wants to take visits --- either for fun or is really interested.
CAL fans are bashing him for taking trips because he should be all-in to CAL.

So he is calling them fake because since he is committed to CAL they should not be bashing him for doing what he's doing.

.....they can keep bashing him for all I care...I want him at the Bend

I do that sometimes. Oftentimes I think, "Damn, I was a moron."

Fortunately I avoided the backlash when Aaron Lynch decommitted. Probably the best time to take a break from following recruiting.

And neither did I, but I had an advantage. I taught these young people for thirty years. You learn a lot about them. Almost no college students come in as "men" or "women". They are "boys" and "girls", despite what their athletic departments might want to call their teams [" Men's Basketball"/ "Women's Track" etc].

They 're boys and girls for [usually] several years, and highly praised and coddled athletes are often the most immature of the lot. From the prof's point of view, you put the opportunities in front of them and hope they grab them. I was VERY often disappointed. You have to shake your head and hope that they begin to see more clearly in time and become something special somehow somewhere.

Offering a great choice to a young football player is an identical thing. Hope. Smile when the right choice is made. Shrug with disappointment when it's not. The youngster is on his own lifespath. Not ours. It's not about "you" or me. Counsel, don't meddle.
