I don't know who the guy is, a Michigan blogger maybe.

Speed Kills
"5-star OT/DE Arik Armstead (USC decommit) 6'8 285 lbs, ranked #1 overall prospect by 247Sports, says he's interested in #Michigan."

I haven't seen anything about it on Michigan boards.

Well, hope he's impressed enough @ the USC game. It sounds to me though like there's some specific other school he wants to get more interest from though, but doesn't want to say it's name.

Armstead did say he is completely open in his recruitment now and USC is still a possibility. He hopes to EE, but only if he feels 100% about it.

“I’ve heard a lot about Notre Dame and its great tradition, and I just wanted to get out there, see the campus and see what the game-day atmosphere is like for myself,” Armstead said. “Coach (Mike) Denbrock has been doing a great job recruiting me and letting me know what a high priority I am for them. I talk to Coach (Nick) Saban from Alabama and also Coach (Anthony) Grant watched me play basketball this summer. Like Notre Dame, I want to visit Alabama to experience for myself what it’s like there. And they are one of the top programs in the nation. Also, Mike Wilks, a former NBA player who my dad trained during his ten-year NBA career and lived with my family during that period, is my role model and like a brother to me. He lives two hours from Alabama in Decatur."

I think he's Bama bound unless we blow him away and perhaps show him some more basketball love.

Im assuming he is like most of these kids and thinkin pro. unless he plans to grow 5 inches or lose 50lbs, basketball should be a pretty far secondary long term goal for him.

If he wants to play basketball why not go to a good basketball program that plays in the big east and has the coach of the year instead of surrounding yourself with pedestrian players, an okay basketball program, and a below average conference. Not to rip on Alabama's basketball program but... Also if the problem is playing with his brother it's one year man. I love my brother and all but to pass up an ND degree to play in 11 games IF neither of the Armsteads get hurt AND both get significant playing time. Make the right choice. I wouldn't hesitate to accept an ND offer and I know I'm bias towards ND but when you logically compare what Alabama has to offer in terms of Arik's circumstance, it seems like a no brainer.

In case you haven't been watching, the Big East is falling apart. The SEC is in a lot better shape. Just throwing that out there.

I said in months ago, I think Arik commits to Bama during his visit. Hope ND leaves a solid enough impression.

Clearly you haven't seen Big Baby at LSU and the Celtics.

big baby is not 6'6, if your example is a role player then my statement is pretty firm. Course no one will ever know this kids true size till a professional combine. these highschool and college numbers are rarely accurate

He making $3 million a year. And your point was ...

Whether Arik's 6-6, 6-7, 6-8, 6-9 is irrelevant. He's BIG! AND, he's a high school senior who has expressed a desire to play basketball in college. He has enough ability to do so and a number of colleges have told him he can.

Dejuan Blair is 6'6" and starting. If he's good enough than his size won't be a issue

Since Armond is planning on graduating this year, is there any chance he transfers to ND with Arik? Didn't hear anything about this, just saw som1 on a USC board saying it would really suck to see both of them at ND next year.

Word is Armond is planning on transferring but nothing about ND, or if he is even academically qualified to do so.

No. He is Bama bound or NFL bound.

My intuition is that ND is unlikely to take Armond, but it could happen. Coming from a 4-3 defense doesn't help, but he's a big DE at 6'5'' 290 lbs. who has previously played DT, so he might be able to fit into Diaco's system.

Taking Armond would mean one less 2012 recruit (21 max), and he'd have to get accepted into a graduate program at ND. That last one may be the real obstacle.

If taking Armond meant getting Arik youd be stupid not too.

No doubt. We just have no idea: (1) if Armond has any interest in ND; or (2) if he has the grades to transfer in as a 5Y.

Irish Sports Report: Officially back on the market

“That will be fun to get out there and go with guys from where I live at,” Armstead said. “Shaq Thompson is going with me. We'll be on the same flight so it'll be very exciting."

Armstead said he has been in contact with Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey and his staff, which could help Kelly in recruiting the two-sport athlete.

“I've talked to them and they saw me play some AAU games this summer,” Armstead said of the Notre Dame basketball coaching staff.

Tight ends coach Mike Denbrock has been recruiting Armstead as a part of his recruiting region. Both Denbrock and recruiting coordinator Chuck Martin visited Armstead out in California.

"I have a good relationship with them and I think this trip will build on that and be a good chance to get to know them a lot more,” Armstead said.

I have no idea what Armond's academic qualifications are be it Rhodes Scholar caliber or stereotypical SC football player. Regardless, when has ND taken Senior transfers?

If he will have a degree then he'd be applying to ND's Graduate School. I've never heard of anyone playing football for ND in Grad School except ND 5th years. Have you?

Then there is ND's scholarship crunch where most eligible ND 5th years are not expected to be asked back for the '12 season.

I suspect neither Saban nor the Alabama Administration would have any qualms about pulling a scholarship and giving it to a highly touted recruit's brother for a package deal. Since when does ND work that way?
