we could be a potential landing spot for Steve Spurrier Jr---there have been rumblings in places regarding this....checked his twitter and has just followed a slew of ND coaches, equipment manager, ND writers, and some players

Not the first I've heard. I'm surprised that it hadn't been expanded upon or possibly gushed over by us yet.

Spurrier was always a very strange person in regards to Notre Dame. He bashed us at any given opportunity, but was also very close friends with Lou Holtz. In fact, Lou was who connected him with South Carolina when he retired.

Now this with his son... I think it would be great in the right scenario. Just a strange marriage, imo.

How much of that is him knowing the media would grab it and run tho? The ol ball coach loved grabbing him some headlines.

he has been a wr coach, recruiting coordinator and most recently at south carolina was promoted to passing game coordinator in addition...i guess from what some "people" have posted on the paid sites have him linked to an off the field coach...idk...haven't seen anything concrete...HOWEVER he has done a nice job coaching wr's in his past....has developed a pretty decent list...although i guess his recruiting has been less than desirable....not the thing we want to hear ALTHOUGH HH certainly took his fair share of criticism when he was hired and look how his recruiting has turned out

Well aren't off the field guys not allowed to recruit? The connections are almost as important as anything else.

I hope it's Wies as an offensive analyst. I know that's not it and I know it wouldn't make sense with it being a different offense, but I always liked Chuck and he could score points. Bad head coach though.

Yeah, that would get the run game going.

Play action pass. Do you remember? I really loved that offense. The pistol/statue PA just looks weird to me and ineffective. I'm over the TFL's we get from it, too.

You have fonder memories of the Weis offense than I. Other than the first year it had a lot of the same issues as Kelly's offense. Lots of yards, good passing teams but poor short yardage running games (although Kelly's teams have been much better overall in the running game). If we're going to get an offensive analyst I would prefer someone from a power running background.

Honestly I hope it's a S/C hire. No Longo joke, the injuries have cost us too much, too many years in a row.

Agree. Special teams, injuries and red-zone offense are areas that need to turn around (I've given up on D). They hired a ST analyst, maybe they'll be addressing one of the others.

Maybe they're hiring a technician to set up those Stanford air rehab things.

You won't be happy until that guy is gone. Are you sure the injuries are Longo's fault? Do you know the routines and programs he has established? Ankle sprains and ligament problems are pretty much out of the control of the S&C coach. There's not muscle surrounding the ligament area to protect it.

What position needs to be bolstered? Or is that type of speculation uncouth?

I'm thinking TEs or LBs or more secondary help? Maybe they can have meetings? Are we hiring a meetings coach?

No I'm not. But I bet there has to be something to it. It's happened too much for it to be bad luck ~ 3 years in a row. I don't think Longo is awful, I just don't think he's a world beater or top 20 in the country at what he does but that's my couch coach opinion.

I think you need to find stats on other major programs and compare to get a good idea.

Yes, because having your top two backs run for close to 2,000 yards (Prosise: 1032, Adams: 835) is CLEARLY an indication that you need to "get the run game going"?
